A 245 lb linebacker is going to beef up our D-line?:sad2: We have a boatload of full size line prospects that weigh 265 or more and have skills and athletic ability. Shouldn't be hard to beef up our line with a good pick.

If our goal is to draft the best football player than Fairley is that guy. His numbers are stunning. Cam Newton the same way.

Looking at his combine though he looks like a 25th pick. Not very big, remember a lot of the best DTs over the last decade are tall guys 6'5 or taller or 315 or larger or both.

    Richard Seymour
    John Henderson
    Kevin Williams
    Albert Haynesworth
    Marcus Stroud

All 6'5 or taller. All well over 300 lbs.

Then you have the wide guys like Jamal Williams, Wilfork, Rogers, Hampton, Ngata all 325 or bigger. Pat williams a similar type guy is 6'3 317.

Suh is 6'4 307. Even Warren Sapp was 300 lbs.

We know Fairley is not really strong in the upper body he didn't even lift and his lower body strength was average.

Fairley is a 295 lb guy who won't get bigger and honestly should not.

Then we look at his timed speed. Same 40 time as Lamarr Houston a 2nd rd pick and while i thought Houston was worth a 16th pick last year Fairley is not as strong and 10 lbs lighter.

Another issue was Fairley's 10 yard split. 1.72 is pretty good for a DT but watching him play i would have thought it was 1.55. He was in the back field before linemen were out of their stance. Will that be hard to do against nfl caliber guys?

Von Miller does not fit this defense so I don't understand why so many fans want him. The guy is a 3-4 LB, yes he's a very good player, but not for us.

RT, my biggest worry about Fairley is how will he develop in the NFL. He was able to take advantage of the college OL but not sure if that's going to be the same when he plays against bigger guys. Honestly, looking at his combine numbers I'm surprised he was able to do so well last year which makes me question him even more now.

You do realize Bama doesn't throw the ball a lot right? Oh wait no you don't. Also even when we do throw McElroy spreads the ball quite well and doesn't just throw it to Julio every time.

Ok, obviously I was not clear. I think Miller is a better add to our current D than Fairley, relative to the talent we have at LB or Dline. Surely you knew I was not suggesting Miller for the Dline. If we are wanting to beef up the Dline Fairley is not the guy...

I just am not excited over the Fairley option....but maybe he end up being a beast.

    Don't care.

He's dropped enough passes that were thrown to him to not even consider drafting him.

McElroy was a 1-read QB. Who do you think his 1 read was to most?

    Yep.

McElroy wasn't a one read QB so I'm not sure where you get this stuff. Jones caught 78 passes for over 1100 yards. Not bad. The next two WRs combined for similar stats to Jones (70 catches-1000 yards) so McElroy was throwing some to the other WRs. The running backs combined for 46 catches and 540 yards. It was actually a fairly balanced offense but anyone who watched Bama at all could see they don't air it out like other teams.

I love Deuces & Roll Tides arguements. You two are so cute (no homo).
