How unbelievably awesome Mass Effect 2 was, and continues to be?

I heard the hype, I listened to the accolades. I thought it would just be a dumbed-down, streamlined RPG with a solid, if perhaps shallow space opera back-drop. I was wrong, and I couldn't be more glad to be wrong.

I haven't even played Mass Effect 1 (being a Sony owner only), and the story has me completely engrossed. Perhaps more engrossed then any game in quite some time.

Mass Effect 3 can't come soon enough.

Mass Effect 1 is fuggin brilliant.
Mass Effect 2 is super-mega-fuggin brilliant.

The unfortunate thing is that if you play Mass Effect 2, you can't really go back to Mass Effect (imo). The controls are so much smoother in 2 that 1 feels really slow and clunky (and those fuggin elevator load times).

    I can't wait for 3 either.

My only complaint (not complaint, but it's bad news for me) is that they're apparently going back to decisions made in 1, moreso than they did in 2. A lot of characters will be making returns, notably Kaiden or Ashley.

Whatever, I'm freaking game. The encyclopedic depth of the world they've created is actually interesting, unlike other sci-fi universes.

Got the free PC download code for this game since I had already purchased Dragon Age 2.

Wasn't a fan of the combat style, but I've only played like 3 hours. I'll probably give it another chance.

And Mass Effect actually get a good number of actors for their games, so thank you for that. The fact Oblivion only had like 6 voices (with like one person playing every black guy) prevented that game from being a 10/10.

I'm glad you're enjoying Mass Effect 2 but I really wish you would have played Mass Effect first, would have made you appreciated the second one even more as great as it already is to you, and you would be more drawn to certain characters that return from the first one. And the best part would have been importing your character from the first one, so certain decisions you make from that game would carry on to the second.

They're in 2 anyway. Just don't do anything.

I believe they do anyway. They have an interactive comic at the beginning of ME2 on PS3 and I think you can make choices there, but I am not sure.
