Because of the limitations of ones gaming area and Kinect.

Like I said above, you can't play any 'hardcore' games (like FPS, Action/Adventure games) solely with Kinect. You can't move forward very far because you're going to either be out of Kinect range or walk into the TV. What's the Kinect camera's area? 8 ft or something like that? That's how far you can move.
Unless the game is on rails and it moves for you, which takes away any real hardcore aspect.

Now if the game is on rails and using a FPS example, how are you going to reload? Sure you can shoot by using your fingers like you did when you played cowboys and indians when you were 8 years old, but reload? Waggle your finger I suppose?
How will Kinect determine the strength of your throws if you want to throw a grenade? How will you be able to select a grenade? Or changes weapons?

Now moving on from FPS to action game, something like Uncharted (just as an example), again, a lot of area to explore in the game, how will you do it in the game? How will you jump up to ledges or across large gaps?
Same goes for a game like Mario.

I mentioned Kinect might be used well in compliment to the controller but there are too many limitations with Kinect to ever be used solely in hardcore games and that is why it will not get much more better than it is.

It has taken off (not as well as Kinect), Duece is doing his usual make stuff up to try and make a point comments.

Things you made up out of thin air:

"You can't jump in any direction" - wrong.

    "You can't duck" - Wrong.

"Your walking distance is limited" - Wrong.

"You can't shoot" - technically you can, with the xbox controller... however the kinect is fairly new- so we'll see how that goes.

    "You can't throw a grenade" - Why can't you?

"Your distance is limited" - No. No more than the Wii's is. (it also uses a bar to sense in case you forgot)

A better question would be- what did you NOT make up out of thin air? lol

Then explain how are you going to jump? You only have a limited space. How are you going to platform?

Lol no it isn't. You don't have a controller, that was the whole point of Kinect.
Where are you going to walk when the camera has only limited scope?
You're essentially in a box, you only have a certain space of square meters to walk.

Again, controller is not used with Kinect. So how are you going to shoot? Point your finger and what? How is it going to recognise a trigger movement? To reload?

How are you going to select a grenade? How is it going to recognise arm strength? You're not gripping the grenade so Kinect wouldn't have a clue on force behind it.

Lol, once again showing you have no idea. Kinect does not use a controller, Wii does. Wii can go anywhere due to this fact, Kinect cannot.

lol, you haven't even answered anything, all you did is say wrong with no reasoning or proof. Keep trying to understand the differences between Wii and Kinect.

You can jump, and do so in Kinect games already... not sure why you think you can't jump side to side + front to back in your living room... but uhh...

Do you walk around town with a controller? To walk you simply move your legs. No controller doesn't change the ability to walk- the distance is traveled on SCREEN not in your house. And if it were- a controller wouldn't change that either. Again- it already exists in games.

With the combined use of an xbox controller- the exact same way Wii performs such actions?... hmmm...

How does a Wii detect arm strength? Oh no... flaws in your argument yet again.
You're thinking waaay too 1987 for this. "How can you select a grenade"... oh, I don't know? By SELECTING A GRENADE? lol Like they cant simply develop an interface for that?

Uhh... no. Again, you're making sh** up.

I said wrong because they're FACTUALLY wrong.

Half the things you said Kinect can't do- it did in Kinect Adventures... but nice try.

Really? So how are you going to jump distances? How is it going to determine lengths? How are you going to do running jumps?

    Oh yeah, you can't.

That's why no game does this. They do simple up and down jumps with the use of rails.

lol and what? you walk without moving? how do you run? walk faster without moving? then how do you run and gun? and side-step? and dive? and run and jump? how will you turn? every time you turn you're away from the screen, turn back and you're facing it again and so it your character.

    Again, can't be done.

And once again, Wii is the system, Kinect is the camera. Kinect was touted as you being the controller.

Wii doesn't detect arm strength. Never said it did, to aim using Wii you use the arc.

Lol and how will you select it? An interface where? Again, it hasn't been done.

lol, what? Kinect uses a controller?

    This is Kinect: [IMG]

    This is Wii:

The noticeable difference is the controller.

Factually wrong? Then you should have some proof. Some hardcore games to prove it. Oh wait there isn't any.

lol Kinect Adventures? The on-rails, done for you game? Kinect Adventures is shovelware. I am talking about hardcore games, get with the program clueless.
Why do you think they have release nothing but party games for it? Because they can't do anything else with it.

Continue showing you have absolutely no idea. This is amusing.

Wow, who would have thought a simple Xbox question would lead to six pages of arguing .

I have to agree with Gunny though, the kinect will never be anything more than a gimmick. The only way to play "hardcore games" on the kinect would with major help from a controller which would be redundant. The controller can do everything already and id much rather hit a button real quick than do some stupid movement.

The kinect can do some neat things but it is nowhere near the VR simulator some of you are making it out to be and never will be.

Exactly and one example I've heard is that Forza will use the Kinect for head tracking, while not overly exciting, is still a pretty interesting feature.

The Kinect probably wont be anything more than a gimmick... but neither will the Wii.

That console sucks if you're a gamer.

And Gunny- still, almost everything you mentioned is ALREADY used in Kinect games. Sorry buddy, do some homework before pulling stuff out of your rectum.
