Um, I disagree. Jake will sometimes have a perfect pocket and a wide open throwing lane and make a very poor throw. He also sometimes chooses to throw into double coverage down the field.

If you watched his Senior Bowl practices with no rush he still uncorks some inaccurate throws...especially in 7v7. If you watched the College All Star challenge - same thing. And there you can't talk about his footwork being messed up due to traffic in the pocket.

And sometimes he uncorks a wild throw.

[quoteThink of it this way if Jake can be very accurate throwing on the move, which is more difficult then throwing from inside the pocket can he really be a net inaccurate passer?[/QUOTE]

    Yes, he can!

I am a huge jake fan, grew up close to him, but I can admit he has accuracy issues at times, especially on deep passes when he is throwing over the top. as some QB coaches have said, he takes too long of strides when taking the drop, which causes him to put too much weight on his back leg, making the ball sail. he already has great arm strength, so add to that the bad weight distribution and he has trouble with touch. that being said, he doesnt do it every time, so we know he CAN make those throws. its a matter of getting the reps in and making sure its muscle memory so that come game time he defaults to the proper technique.

Thats true for any QB prospect.

I guess there is no need to discuss it anymore with you then.

    Cheers,

I agree but I think its more a question of consistency and experience then accuracy.

Jake is very accurate throwing on the run because that's what he's been doing for most of his QBing career (Wing-T, Spread-Option) up until the last 2 years under Sark.

Jake is basically a sophmore in terms of playing in the pocket, not to mention he plays behind a bad OL. The lack of experience and lack of pass protection imo cause Jakes most of Jakes breakdowns.

I've always thought Jake had good touch and deep ball accuracy, I would even consider this a strong suit in his game he made a lot of big plays by throwing accurate deep balls, sometimes even back shoulder or stop fades.

I would like to see Jake trust the pass protection more because like many QBs that are great runners he sometimes looks to flush from the pocket too early.
But, Jake rightfully didn't have much of a reason to trust his pass protection but he's gonna have to re-learn/re-gain that comfort and the Titans OL will go a long way in solving this issue.

I think Jake needs to learn how and when to slide or get out of bounds.

I would like to see Jake have better ball security both inside the pocket and when he's running downfield.

I would like to see Jake stand a little taller in the pocket, Jake it appears to me that Jake sometimes drops back and at the top of drop back he's in between running or staying in the pocket which imo causes him to crouch down as opposed to standing up.

I think the Titans are very lucky and will be very happy with Locker.
I'm a bit jealous b/c it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that Mike Shanahan would have drafted Locker at 10.

The Titans essentially stole my QB, lol.
You know what's funny? Jake kinda reminds me of the late Steve McNair, but faster w/ a stronger arm.
And I know that's high praise in a Titan's forum, but Jake's leadership, grit and toughness remind me of Steve.

First Favre, now McNair comparisons. WOW! I can't wait to see him in training camp, and in preseason. Stupid lockout better end sooner rather than later.

With the exception of Kearse, Lockers receivers were not great at making plays. Jake did overthrow lots of deep balls, but that is certainly safer than underthrowing the ball. Jake's INT's aren't out of line with the rest of his class. Does he nail every receiver? No, but when he misses, does he err on the safe side? Usually.

I will admit that Jake does throw into double coverage... Some of those are glaring examples of his accuracy issues. Other times it's highlight real material.

Jake has learning to do, as does every rookie QB. He has lots of bad habits to break. The most important one is to sometimes not get the first down/TD... Staying healthy could be the biggest challenge I see for Jake.

    Well...

Aside from sailing some throws...which I agree to a lot of the why you wrote, but he also sometimes misses badly on crossing throws...can throw almost a yard behind the WR.

Again, he did it in games but also did it in the all star challenge when the targets aren't moving very fast.

Not sure why that is an issue.

I do like that he has been working with some people to try to correct issues and he's a dedicated leader/worker.
