I don't buy into the hype of Barkley and Jones.

Matt Barkley would be the first USC quarterback to worth a damn since Carson Palmer, and even he was just pretty good for a couple of years. Those guys play with so much talent around them that the offense is just unstoppable.

Don't get me started on Landry Jones. I think Sam Bradford was an aberration. Other than OU, no one in the Big 12 plays defense. Couple that with the fact that he plays in the spread and his numbers are terribly inflated.

Aside from Luck, I've never watched those guys and said, "Wow, there's an NFL quarterback."

And let's not forget how much things can change over the course of a season. Jake Locker was supposed to be in competition for the #1 overall pick after his junior year and no one knew who Cam Newton was.

Locker wouldn't have stayed that high had he actually declared for the draft, no one had done the research on him enough at the point he said he was staying in college.

You are right though that things can change from one year to the next, especially with QB's.

I'm not buying into the hype either. I will admit that the 2012 QB Draft Class looks better than the 2011 Class. This happens every year, people hype up the QBs and they end up being subpar around draft time. Look at last year, Locker was fighting with Bradford for the #1 QB spot, but decided to return and had an iffy senior year. Same thing could happen with Andrew Luck next year. They also tried hyping up Mallett... and look where he went in the draft.

There is a ton of QBs: Luck, Foles, Barkley, Cousins, and Landry. Personally I think Luck & Foles are the best. Luck looks to be the perfect QB, and Foles is extremely accurate (67.1% last year). Not sold of Barkley and Cousins. And I don't know enough on Landry to make a judgement.

I also like the mid-round QBs that could be available. Like Dominique Davis, Kellen Moore, Case Keenum, G.J. Kinne, Jacory Harris, Brandon Weeden, Ryan Tannehill to name a few. Watch out for Dominique Davis next year, plays at ECU (where CJ2K went). 3967 Pass Yards & 37 Pass TDs, with an additional 9 rushing TDs - 6'3 215. I watched an ECU game last year and he impressed me.

Bottom line, I'm happy with Locker. We don't need to be talking about QBs in the '12 Draft... we should be talking about SS, OG/C, and WRs.

There is a 'Monet' effect to underclassmen college QBs.
They all look good from far away because they are largely under scouts radars.
Most scouts are told not scout underclassmen in detail until/if they declare.

I like the Tannehil kid more then Barkley.
I think Jones has a good skillset as does Luck.

For me the top of the 2011 class had something rare 2 QBs (Newton, Locker) that could throw the football as well as anyone in the 2012 class yet both prospects provided rare/exceptional athleticism/playmaking.

I hope these kids blossom how many expect, that way there will be more options for us when we pick. Any QB needy teams will be able to use up their picks on QB's so we can use one on a safety or LB. If these guys end up letting everyone down, those same QB needy teams will steal one of the guys we could get.

Every year is supposed to be amazing for QB's, then the draft comes around, and questions about every guy starts to surface.

What I don't get is when people say 'Man, there are gonna be so many good QBs in the draft this/next year'.

So? lol, too bad we only get to pick one.

So, I'm assuming since the Titans picked Locker at 8, they think he can go toe to toe with any of these guys. So who cares if there are a better pool of QBs next year when we can only have one anyway.

The only QB I think is better than Locker is Luck. Even though locker might have a higher cieling (wishful thinking), Luck is the safest pick in history. Considering on the 0.0001 chance he bombs, you can just move him to linebacker.
