I think it will happen, but I do not want it to. I am originally from Missouri, so I have a soft spot for the Big 12 conference. I hated to see Nebraska and Colorado leave this season, and Texas is really screwing things up by all of their new TV deals.

As sad as it is, it is inevitable IMO that the Big 12 loses all of their top teams (including Texas and Oklahoma). Just a matter of time.

Agreed. Texas will be an independent in my opinion.

And how many of those teams were the results of recruiting violations?

Go ahead and take Auburn's away.

Alabama had 1 legit. The other they can thank Colt McCoy for.

But... until the NCAA hands a title to someone else outside the SEC, I suppose you have that point. Or until a playoff system exposes them.

Don't disagree, but I think that the road is rocky for independents these days. Notre Dame has tradition on their side for scheduling, so they are an exception. Other independents really struggle to find meaningful games in the season.

Texas may try going independent, but they will be in a conference less than 10 years after trying this IMO. I mean, who will play them unless they have to? Only the scrub teams who want $$ and name recognition. This will get old fast for Longhorn fans, and, more importantly, will depress viewership of their new network.

College Football is slowly but surely moving to the point where it will have 4 or so mega conferences (SEC, Big Ten, Pac Ten, and something from the east)....I do not like this, but it just may be that I do not like change. Time wil tell.

The reason why these other teams are having trouble finding games is because they're all military right? If Texas was in that group you better believe they would have a loaded schedule.

no other independent has a schedule loaded with quality opponents. Especially Oct and Nov it would be hard too get dates because the quality opponents are in conferences.

Looks like nothing is going to change at the present. I do think the SEC wants a strong team to add along with A&M first.
