So he's taller and leaner than both right? He sure doesn't look 205, lets wait till the combine. Overall I'm not that enamoured by him at all.

Barron at 15lbs heavier and Armstrong(he really isn't that great either) at least 10lbs heavier are better prospects for the ss position in my opinion.

Overall its a poor Safety class.

My favourite is Trent Robinson FS outta Michigan State but later on in draft

I doubt Barron nor RayRay will be available in the 3rd.

    True.

But yet McDonald is projected as a second rounder in most mocks I've seen.

We need one solid safety at least in the draft, I just dont want us to overpay for one.(see Griffin)

i think he is going off of need because no one really knows what the front office will do after the backfire with cj...who knows if they will pay finny and resign him or not..

I'm really starting to like Vinny Curry from Marshall.

6'3 265 - DE/OLB. Sack machine. 12 sacks last year, 10.5 this year (so far, with 3 games left). Reminds me of..... DeMarcus Ware.

If we switched to the 3-4, he'd be a perfect 2nd round pick (where 99% of sites have him projected). Imagine this draft:

    1. David DeCastro, G, Stanford
    2. Vinny Curry, OLB, Marshall
    3. Harrison Smith, SS, ND
    4. Trevor Guyton, DE, California
4 (comp). William Vlachos, C, Alabama
    5. Nicolas Jean-Bapiste, NT, Baylor

So our 3-4 D would look something like:

    -Morgan/Guyton -- Smith/Casey -- Jones/Klug-
    Curry ------ McCarthy ---- Witherspoon ------ Ayers

Then target a #2 WR in the free agency (Mario Manningham, Pierre Garcon, or Braylon Edwards.. or if we open up Buds wallett Dwayne Bowe). Also need some LB depth. The draft would give us a starting LG/C and another young prospect interior OL. Harrison Smith is a tackling machine, and would be our starting SS.

    My second Mock

Note: I think we get a 4th and a 6th for Babin and Tully.

Round 1. Vontaze Burfict, ILB, ASU
Round 2. Ray ray Armstrong, SS, Maimi
Round 3. Ben Jones, C, UGA
Round 4a. Jaye Howard, DT, Florida
Round 4b. Brandon Washington, G/OT, Miami
Round 5. Jermine Kerse, WR, Washington
Round 6a. Jelani Jenkins, OLB, Florida
Round6b. Montel Harris, RB, Boston College
Round 7. Matt Merletti, S, UNC

    Thoughts?

Whats with the love with Burfict?
He does seem like the second coming of Ray Lewis- character concerns do concern me and im hoping that we dont pick early enough to get him i would like to see a winning season and i believe Burfict is a top ten pick unless the character concerns drop him to us which i would be willing to take a chance

Safety i know is one of our pressing needs however like many said this is a weak class like last year and last year we passed on a safety which i believe will pass again

I like the Ben Jones and the Washington pick to upgrade our interior line

Jake Locker former reciever is what gets me, i see people wanting polk and kearse but all the jake locker fans werent they complaining of the drop passes and lack of supporting cast?

Doubt we will go running back in this draft after getting jamie harper last year it is a possibility though it would be even more likely if johnson is traded at the end of the season

I wouldnt be upset if this was our draft it does provide most of our needs, ill rather see

zack brown olb-1st can do it all a pure playmaker
devon still dt-2nd- im jumping on steverife banwagon this guy is an absolute force in the middle what we been lacking, and that translate into better secondary play
ben jones c-3rd- no explanation needed
dwight jones wr-4th- big guy like Britt so when Britt goes down your not losing your difference maker- what some people dont realize Williams is improving and you have to consider this is like his rookie year new oc with the lock out and recievers do have a longer learning curve he is getting better

the rest of the draft can pick best d and o line available
    with choice of rb-ss-ilb too

    I'd be happy with it.

Random question, how many QBs does everyone see going Rd 1?

I think a lot of you a missing the larger point here. Today's NFL is geared towards high scoring and the passing games. They changed the rules to benefit the offense, you can't fart near a QB w/o drawing a penalty and you can't even touch a receiver down field w/o getting a contact penalty. We need to take advantage of the way the rules are set up, which means THROW THE BALL!!!

I don't care if we have to trade up to snag Blackmon but that should be on the table. Many of you assume that Britt will come back and be the same old Britt, but he's coming back from not only an ACL but worse, and MCL. There is no guarantee that he will ever be the same receiver again. With no other threat at receiver CJ will see 8 in the box all day long. The NFL is set up to favor QBs and WRs, if we don't take advantage of the rules we are going to continue to lag behind.

I want to see us in an offense similar to the Packers/Lions/Eagles... shotgun with CJ the single back. Britt on one side and Blackmon on the other. Hasslebeck/Locker slinging the ball all over the field.

The power running game is dead in todays NFL.

I see at least 5 going and I think they all will be studs: Blackmon, Jeffrey, Broyles, Floyd, Toon. There's a kid from LSU that could be late 1st early second, depending on how many QBs go early. The one thing about this draft is that it is not nearly as loaded on the d-line as last years was. So there won't be as many d-lineman taken.
