The Annual "Why did that movie win best picture?!" Academy Awards thread

Preaching to the choir. I've never watched more than a minute combined of the Grammys and Oscars.

 

Sitting through a 100 minute silent film would be torture. They did it back in the day because there was no sound, now we have sound, use it lol.

And apparently being "unique" isn't doing something that's never done before, but just bringing back something from the past.

 

You should have sent that dancing video to the filmmakers of Project X.

In casting the film, Todd Phillips and Joel Silver decided to create a nationwide open casting call, allowing any United States resident over the age of 18 to audition for Project X through the website Project X Open Call. Those auditioning were required to provide videos of themselves telling embarrassing or funny stories, or dancing.

 

The thing I hate about the Academy is that it's so political.

Oprah was the only reason why 'The Help' got nominated for best picture.
Tom Hanks was the only reason why 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" got a nod as well.

If you do your research, you'll find that Hollywood not only funds films, it funds politics (not the movie kind, obviously).

Oh, and you might as well call Hollywood "Harveywood" now...2 straight wins. Ridiculous.

Went home empty-handed.

 

It would have to take a special person to sit through a silent film. As well as patience. As they seem to be outdated until last night when that movie won.
