I have been looking over the past 10 years of Titans drafts. And as a franchise, we never ever trade up in early rounds. I know in the 3rd and lower rounds we have traded picks before. But over all those years, we either trade down in the 1st round or just stay put year after year.

I want to know what everyone thinks about the Titans trading 2 or 3 picks to grab a true Elite Blue Chip Star who can start from day one, and be a true pro bowl star for years to come. If there is really someone we like, I wouldnt even mind giving up the next years 1st round pick much like the Falcons did last year grabbing Julio Jones.

What I am talking about is giving up unknown picks for a star. The Titans rarely if ever draft in top 5 picks. And last time we did, it was wasted on VY. So when a year comes around where a true star. I know no player is guarantee. But it seems every year the Titans just play it safe and take the best player based on need that happens to fall to us. We were one pick away from getting Hakeem Nicks in '09 and one pick away from taking Pierre-Paul in '10. So while the option is there to go way up and get a Blue Chip star or just grab that amazing guy that happen to randomly fall but just not quite far enough. Why dont the Titans EVER trade up?

I'd be for it in a case where we were really close, and needed ONE more player to push us over the top to a title.

I'd be for it if we were in a position of NEED for a QB, and loved a guy higher in the round.

Other than that, I'm against it, for several reasons...

    1. The Titans, by and large, draft well. Our picks are valuable.

    2. The price to trade up is usually ridiculous

    3. We are a small market team. We have a history of not resigning guys. You don't trade away multiple picks just to watch him walk away three years later.

    To answer your question, No!

By the looks of this years schedule, we'd be well served hanging onto as many 2013 picks as we can because we could very well be drafting high.

Also, nobody knows how the Titans boards were set in those drafts. There is no telling if we would have even targeted Nicks or JPP. Personally I think Britt is better on the field than Nicks anyway, too bad Britt is injured all the time but that is pretty random.

I understand why you are saying. And I know the Titans never seem to kept their players. But it doesnt mean we can't change. I know with the schedule in 2012, it might be wise to keep the 2013 picks, but I would just love to see a true blue star become a Titan. A guy that every year goes to Pro Bowl for Titans. No more no Pro Bowl years. A guy that gets up Prime Time spots just because of how good he is. A true face of the Franchise. Maybe Locker will become that guy. But while I love CJ and his talent. He isnt the face of our franchise. Not really as he might be known around the country but I wouldnt want him to speak for the Titans at press conferences etc.

Only person I would really feel comfortable trading up for, is Blackmon, and that would cost way too much.

Nobody in the draft has me sold that they are going to be a superstar. I mean, you never can tell in the draft, but I am not totally against it. But I am this year.

Yes...if there was a Calvin Johnson, Ndamukong Suh esque player sitting ahead of us. But that player doesn't exist in this draft..

But that is what I am saying. Why not trade up for Blackmon?? Imagine that offensive lineup. Locker at QB with CJ at RB, Britt, Nate, Cook, and Blackmon. What D could stop all that? It would take our Offense to Elite. No more stacking the line for CJ. If our Offense is that amazing. The Defense doesnt have to be so amazing. Just good enough to create turnovers and make stops from time to time.

The Titans never go over stars like Blackmon or Megatron. I know not everyone likes this idea, but at this point in our Offense, all we need is one more star at WR. So Blackmon or Floyd would be great. There is another example. What about Floyd? Would it be worth having Floyd in the lineup if we have to trade up to 12 or so?

I don't like the idea because of things that could potentially go wrong. Look at what Atlanta gave up for Julio Jones. He needs to be putting up near Megatron numbers to make that worth it, and he could be a bust, who knows. Unless the front office is convinced that someone is their guy, don't put all your eggs in one basket.

We have had superstars on this team, some just don't pan out, it happens. CJ is just one bad season removed from being the best runningback in the NFL and Britt could be next.

I would rather have a squad of good guys with a few stand out players, than a squad of decent guys with a few superstars.

If Melvin Ingram starts falling a bit and we're 4-6 spots away then I might trade up for him.

Other than that I can't really think of anyone I would trade up for that wouldn't cost us most of our picks. Floyd? I doubt the Titans do that for a WR when we're supposedly focusing on defense and the line.
