If we went into a 34. Id rather have Casey at DE. Draft a NT in the later rounds.

Casey has exceptional speed for a man his size but I'm not sure he could play DE even in a 3-4.

I tend to think he could. 34- 5 techs arnt really rushing the passer as much as they are clogging running lanes and maintaining gap integrity. that's why they are generally bigger. Also, so it's more grey, I'm sure there are some 34 schemes that want the 5 tech to penetrate more so than others.

This is why I don't see klug in as a 5 tech, he couldn't hold up well against the run blocking. Casey on the other hand has played nose, so I don't think it would be a big deal to move to the outside.

Why is everyone assuming we are switching to a 34 defense? Or even a hybrid...I think we have to perfect our defense we started with last season before thinking about transitioning into another one. Maybe if we can start playing good defense in 43 THEN I'd understand us trying to expand into 34...Don't ever try doing something out of your reach when you haven't even perfected what you started with.

With that said...Casey and Klug would be good ends in a 34...Wimbley and Ayers would be good outties...we'd get crushed up the middle though..

Read some news lately? Munch said today that we would be showing 34 looks.

I had to do one more before the draft:

Round 1- Dre Kirkpatrick, Alabama this is not my first choice but in this mock draft I kind of worked backwards their is a lot of players I like in the later rounds that fill a need. I could name 20 draftable players right now that I would not be mad if we got, that is how many routes we can go in this draft. With the departure of Cortland CB is a need it would be nice to have someone develop into a shutdown corner and move Verner back to nickelback, which I think Kirkpatrick could possible do or at least move to safety to replace Griffin.

Round 2- Vinny Curry, Marshall More than likely he won't be sitting here when we pick at this position I love this kid and his work ethic. Coming up into the combine you saw a kid who looks to make turnovers, he looks more for the force fumble than just sacking the QB can't have enough of these kind of guys on the team.

Round 3- Tank Carder, TCU He showed off some good speed at the combine this year someone who will be able to cover some ground in the NFL. Will Witherspoon is on the decline and I would like to see his replacement in this draft. Ayers, McCarthy, Carder sounds like a linebacking core for years to come. Like McCarthy he is a very versatile player that will be around the ball.

Round 4- Gino Gradkowksi, Delaware I mocked him here because its a guy we brought in for a visit. Not only that he is a lot safer health wise than a lot of the other centers in this year draft. He fits a zone blocking scheme which is what we run and is a versatile player that can play all the interior positions. I would love David Molk but has the injury bug.

Round 5- Akiem Hicks, Regina University He is our poor man Michael Brockers. The kid was suppose to be beside Brockers at LSU, but a recruitment problem sent him to Canada. Ton of potential to go a long with his remarkable mix of size and speed.

Round 6- B.J. Coleman, UT-Chattanooga You guys may ask why I mocked a QB to us reason being is I don't feel comfortable with Rusty Smith as a back-up when Hasselback leaves. It would be a great opportunity to get another young QB to learn behind Hasselback while he is here. Coleman is a small school prospect with a good skill set and high upside.

Round 7- Winston Guy Jr., Kentucky I think my boy who I been preaching about in some early mocks at higher rounds won't be getting his name called anytime soon. He has a lot of upside and is always around the ball. If he makes it this far he will be a steal in the draft in the 7th round.

I like your mock besides for the center you have us taking and the backup QB...we have far too many needs to be worrying about a 3rd string qb...we could possibly find another courtland finnegan in the 6th, why waste it on a guy that won't play?

I can see your points but with Jake Locker play style injuries have always been a concern, you really want Rusty Smith leading this team? Get another young QB to learn behind a vet. Your not going to feel every need in one draft.

So you draft BJ Colemon, a low round QB with good tools and upside, to replace Rusty Smith, a low round QB with good tools and upside? Interesting. In all honestly this guy will probably not be any better then Rusty Smith.
