Called it last night, I think this could very well be the pick. Apparently one team had him in for a private workout and told him they're picking him in the 1st. I know he had a visit with us and he's the type of pass rusher we could be looking for. Also guys don't be too upset if we do get him, yes he is a bit raw but his first step is easily the best of any pass rusher in the draft and he has exceptional speed for the position. Could be a double digit sack guy if put in the right situations.

I though still want someone like Kirkpatrick but I think we could very well go for Irvin.

    so negative...
take it from the only Mountaineers fan/alumni on the the board... this guy WILL go after the QB... that's all he thinks about when i watched him...
as for character concerns... he's fairly clean... dont really know the whole story with the mishap at jimmy johns... but he says the reports have overblown it and if it shows anything... he's responsible enough to write a report of what happened to EVERY nfl team
plus he has a rugged past as well (here's his story http://msn.foxsports.com/collegefoo...e-Irvin-now-excelling-at-West-Virginia-081011)

really hope we pick him... first is a bit reach, but then again.. so was Locker..

Sure it does...plenty of prospects who were labeled as "raw" are picked in the first round...Brockers, Hill, Tanneyhill(sp), Jones, Mercilus are all described as "raw" and all expected to go in the first round. Albert Haynesworth, Cam Newton were described as raw as well.

The big problem I would see is if he is a OLB or big enough frame to add weight and move to DE. But the kid can absolutely go get it.

he uses a lot of finesse moves because he's not as big as a typical DE... but he's much faster.. (remember his 4.43 time at the combine?!) and he uses that speed as his strength

(even i felt that hit at 3.30)

His get off is rediculous I almost mocked him to us in the second but I guess what is one more round to ensure you get the guy you want. I'm noy saying that guy is Irvin buy if we take.him I won't be mag we suck at rushing the passer he will instantly upgrade that and he fits the hybrid theme we seem to be moving towards. Actually thinking about it as much as I like hightower I'm not sure where he fits and Irvin actually makes more sense as a de and rush lb if we show 3-4 from time to time. Just my two cents. Oh and raw talent and first round absolutely go together.

If we do take him a space eater inside like Thompson would be ideal round 2 or even Martin with Chapman and Hicks as later possibilites. Sorry couldn't edit my first post on my phone.

Firstly, it's hard to concentrate on the video with the crap rap playing so I had to turn the speakers off. Secondly, he definetly has teh first step and speed but I am not convinced he ever saw anything at WV that he will see in the pros. Nah, we need Devon Still or Barron at #20 if they are there.
