So the coaches and front office followed directions to tank, because otherwise they'd presumably get fired for insubordination. They got fired anyway. They didn't tank.

If everyone, or at least the head coach and GM, didn't get fired I'd entertain the idea that they threw the season. But the axe came down on everyone who was responsible for the construction of that team.

No but playoff teams can own the rights to that pick if they trade for it prior to the draft.

The NBA lottery is a joke, and the idea of implementing a lottery system for the NFL is asinine. I've said it before and I'll say it again if you're the worst team in the league you deserve the #1 pick period, and there should never be an open scenario where a non-playoff team who went 11-5 or 10-6 have a shot at the #1 through a lottery.

I think they shouldn't use a lottery but combine the records of the previous two seasons in the ordering of the picks. So a team that goes 8-8 one year and 10-6 the next would be 18-14 for draft pick ordering until you reach the playoff teams, which would get ordered the same way they do now.

No bad idea. I hate that the NBA does it because we all know questionable stuff happens behind those doors and Stern is a piece of crap anyway. I remember 2007 Celtics had the worst record and because of the lottery we ended up with the 3rd pick and missed out on Durant. Still ended up with the Big 3 but still...Also a couple of my best friends are Hornets fans and months before the lottery I even called they would get the 1st pick because they want to make the franchise desirable since they were looking for a new owner and a new star now that CP3 is in LA and what do you know...

I don't really believe in tanking, especially in football. Some basketball teams really are that bad whether they're rebuilding or decided to blow up their team because they weren't going to win anyway.

It would def. shake things up and prevent purposely losing games (if anyone actually does that)

Lottery system is rigged. This would become a fact if the NFL ever adopted it, but since no one cares about the NBA they get away with that and fixing games.

The worst team should get the first pick.

It's pretty obvious franchises in the NBA tank games. Hell, some tanked several seasons in a row in order to clear cap space for free agents to-be. New Jersey for Dwight Howard. The Knicks for LeBron. The list goes on.

Anyone have an example of a team tanking in the NFL? Unless there is concrete evidence that teams are intentionally losing games to gain an advantage in draft order I say leave it alone.
