Running back Chris Johnson doesn’t feel he bears any of the blame for the Titans’ woeful rushing attack through two games. The Titans are the worst rushing team in the league, having produced a total of 58 yards. Johnson has 21 yards on 19 carries.

“I’m never perfect. Even when I went for 2,000 (yards), I wasn’t thinking I was perfect,” Johnson said Thursday. “But I wouldn’t sit here and say I’m to blame.”

    Not to blame at all?

“I wouldn’t think so, but I’m not the guy to sit here and be the guy that points fingers,” Johnson said. “It’s a situation where I’m only going to be as good as my is line going to be, so we have to work together and get better together. … I don’t think I missed no big plays or anything like that. It’s just a situation where we really haven’t had the opportunity to stay on the field and really get into the running game.”

There are some new pieces to the line this season, as Steve Hutchinson is starting at left guard, Fernando Velasco at center and Leroy Harris at right guard. The Titans are also in the early stages of their second season under head coach Mike Munchak and offensive coordinator Chris Palmer.

“We’re a year into the new system, so it’s just a situation where we’re all working hard together,” Johnson said. “I’m not saying the offensive line is bad and they’re not saying I’m bad. We’re just working together trying to make it better. Once we turn it around and we get the praise, we’re going to take praise together as a whole team, not just an individual.”

Johnson, who was better in the second half of the 2011 season, remains convinced that 2012 will get better as well: “Last year there were tough times and it got better toward the end, so hopefully it can get better quicker than last year.”

Oh geez. This should end well.

One more season and we can cut him.

Anyone wanna buy my authentic CJ jersey? I'll sell it for a bag of tropical skittles and a pack of fruit stripe gum.

The first half of this makes him sound like an egotistical jerk and the second half makes him sound like a team player.

I like how he says he's not the kind of guy to point fingers then in the next breath effectively does just that.

If you say you're not to blame "at all", then say "I'm only as good as my line is going to be" then you're effectively saying the line is to blame for your poor performance this season.

I'm sure he's just trying to relay what his PR guy is telling him to say and of course butchering it in the process.

    Nothing he said wasn't true.

I would be embarrassed if I was a Titans o-linemen.

I guess everyone prefers the Munchak/Fisher PR answers.

    "I'm not to blame."

"I'm not the guy to sit here and point fingers."

Moron. The sun rose today and Chris Johnson said something stupid. Just another day.

Only way to see is to try another back. I don't say that to badmouth Chris, I only say that so that we can get some type of comparison. Maybe our line is terrible, and we're screwed regardless. Maybe one our backups will prove to be much more effective. Let's mix things up a bit and at least try to keep defenses off balance.
