CJ proved today he could be a good enough back when he has a line blocking for him

Its also VERY clear that he will not be the same back that he was his first 3 seasons.

 

CJ had a good game today, he looked like he actually cared today but I'm far from ready to say the run game is fixed. He had a few good games last year too the he'd stink it up again. He still didnt have that break away, leave them in his dust type of speed of the old CJ but I'll take it anyway. Seems like they were running some of their old power block run plays too. Hopefully this s the beginning of getting therun game back on track but I'm not holding breath just yet.

 

As good of a day that he had today, he still didnt look like a $50 million running back though. We're paying that kind of money for an explosive playmaker and I still havnt seen that yet. Hopefully we will next week, who knows!

Everyone is so up and down on CJ.. I'm still down. Congratulations you ran for 100+ yards, we still lost.. but you don't care because you looked good. You pay CJ all this money, and he's just good. He's still lost a step. He still is selfish. I personally just don't like paying a RB elite money unless they're elite.

Awesome job blocking by the OL today. Thank you CJ for hitting your holes and going, finally stopped dancing in the backfield. Keep up this, as a TEAM get healthy, and we could surprise a few teams.

Also... I made the comment, wondered really, how much the Texans' Defense was "allowing" us to run so they could defend us in other ways. I mean, seriously, why go all out to defend the run against a team as abysmal as us?

It can be argued they "allowed" us to run... and waited for us to screw up - 3 Defensive TDs.

Credit WHEN credit is due... right now? It is NOT due. Give us more games with consistency... then I'm game.

We were stupid to pay him that in the first place. However its a far cry from the people who were putting it all on CJ's lack of heart, ect ect ect

Id cut him no matter what after the season, even if he gets 1200-1400.

The discussion hasnt been "was he worth the money", because I dont believe anyone would say yes to that. The discussion has been "oline vs CJ" and how some people could not accept that it is/was both.

Everyone put the world on his shoulders (including himself) and everyone has thrown fits for the past 1.5 years (and rightfully so). MOST were attacking HIM, not the offensive line. (there were some, but even LT came out with the "not playing with heart" argument. They questioned his desire, his heart, and his ability to be worth a crap.

Today the line blocked, and today it was clear that CJ could still be a good back, if the guys up front could block.

Again, never worth the money.

After his first "backwards run" today, i went through the roof which is actually quite rare for me. i wanted him out and I didnt care if my mother went in as his replacement. Luckily, he didnt do it again.

As stated in my original post about it, he is not done, he just needs blocking. However he would have to show me a LOT more than he did today (meaning do it every game the rest of the season) before even considering keeping him at his ####
