Guys, we can't even perfect our 43 defense and you think we are going to switch to a 34?? lol ya'll just won't give that a rest huh?? haha...and yeah, trust me, I know that we need a big body DT...I've been preaching that since we lost Haynesworth...BUT the fact still remains, IMO, that we have greater needs than that right now. Now, if we drafted the big guy Star Lotuleili I would not be mad whatsoever...

Also^^^ I love the sleeper safety picks you made right here...Rambo and Armstrong are beasts..

As I said, look @ the 2010 Houston Texans. Terrible defense, historically worst secondary. They had a few key players that would fit in the 3-4. Texans bring in Wade Phillips, switch to 34, draft 34 players and in one season go to the 32nd defense to Top-10. We need that luck.

I like Armstrong but Rambo hasn't looked very good so far this year, just a little concerning. He's a big hitter but from what I can tell his coverage skills need to improve.

Well, he was suspended the first 4 games and got 9 tackles in his first game last week against Tennessee...he's the type of player we need in the secondary...

    P.S. His name is Rambo

I hear ya man...I mean if the best defenses in the NFL(San Fran, Ravens, Texans) are 34 defenses it probably is smart to try to do the same...I just think it's pointless to get your hopes up year after year that we're going to switch when we never do. lol

I think it's very possible and we have some nice pieces for it. X, we go through this every year, but we really need to do something.

This might be stupid but I reckon Ayers could play inside Linebacker with McCarthy, I think he has been our best defender so far this season, and one of the only sure tackler's in the team.

Brown could be used inside or outside, and should line up with TE's.

Morgan sets the edge really well, I honestly think he would make a better 3-4 DE than a pass rusher in a 4-3. He's listed at 278, if he could add 10-15lbs he could be a starting DE in a 3-4.

Wimbley can go back to playing his original position as OLB.

    ------Casey---- Lotelelui or Hankins(1st)-----Morgan
    Wimbley---------Ayers----MCarthy-------- Sean Porter(2nd)

Totally forgot Wimbley. Ayers needs to play OLB, but I think he could play ILB if needed. I don't see the need to take a NT 1st. Most NTs are just big run stoppers, but not worth a first unless it's the next Ngata. I don't see that in this draft, thus far. I feel like the BIGGEST need in the 34 is to have a legit pass-rush. OLB would have to be our 1st round pick.

Rambo is a legit talent, his stock is falling because he violated UGAs drug (dont smoke) policy. Look at Janoris Jenkins, he got kicked off the team due to smoking the reef, and fell to the 2nd round (when he was a legit Top-15 talent).

The Titans have taken risks early on before on troubled players (Pacman, Britt, etc). So why not spend a 2nd-3rd on a safety. Then take another troubled safety (Ray Ray Armstrong) in the 5th-6th. Now we have three young safties in Rambo, Armstrong, Markelle all fighting Babs and Griff for a starting/roster spot.

I do agree that a stud OLB pass rusher would be the pick over say a Star Lotulelei. But I just don't believe that we'll be picking top 5, even though at this point that would be ideal. I think we'll be somewhere around 9 or 10, meaning Mingo and Jones will likely be off the board. I do think Star has a chance to be Nagta version 2.0, so I'd snatch him there.

I think Morgan could play a 3-4 end, mostly because he plays the run so well and tends to set the edge well too. I think a better weight for him is around 285, if he could play there then I'd give him a shot at end, absolutely.

I think Ayers and McCarthy playing inside would be incredible for us, both of those guys are very instinctual and very good tacklers.

Wimbley and Brown could fit in nicely outside, with Brown being more of our TE cover guy. I think in certain looks Brown could play a hybrid strong safety as well, he's that fast.

I've been trying to make the point for a couple of years about how the Texans turned into an elite team by switching to the 3-4 but many ppl here just laugh it off for some unknown reason. The point is, whatever we are doing with our 4-3 isn't working and hasn't worked for quite sometime. Now is the perfect time for change and change is sorely needed.

I believe Star has a great chance of becoming the next Ngata. Since I think we'll miss out on Jones and Mingo he's the next best thing. Of course this all depends on us picking top 10, and it's going to be close.
