I think a lot of you guys are missing the point of this thread; JC Brave is talking about replacing coordinators. When Munch got the job I can't remember about Jerry Gray but I know Chris Palmer was not his first choice it came down to he was about his only choice. If you recall Munch got denied the right by a few teams to interview their staff.

I really don't see either guys like Nolan or Fewell to make a lateral move to another team to coordinate

What about some college coaches maybe looking for a better chance a guy like John Chavis from LSU. He's a Tennessee native and has some of the stingiest defenses in college. This would never happen though first off because he just signed a 3 year deal worth an average of 1.1 million with LSU but it wouldn't hurt to look into the college ranks.

I was at the Gamecock game last night. Lorenzo Ward called a great Def game. Shut UGA down. It maybe the personnel (J Clowney is the real deal), but Ward had his players in the right spots all night. We will not get Rex Ryan as a coordinator. I don't see that working out, and other DCs will not want to make a lateral move. We are going to have to look at position coaches or college DCs.

Anyone think Bud would pull the trigger on Wade Phillips as head coach?

Wade recently said he wants to be a head coach again. Wade was let go by Bud's old state rival the Cowboys, and has made new rival Texans stronger.

Now, if it turns out that Bud/FO gives up on Munchak by the end of the season, I could get behind this. Phillips has a pretty good record and has built some great defenses (which we sorely need). It would also weaken the Texans.

I am considering the politics because that seems to be Bud's MO. Vince Young anybody?

I think the you guys are missing something though, yes our defense has look pretty bad for a while. The biggest problem with our defense is our offense. Too many stalled drives keeping our defense on the field, we always looked good defensively early on than towards the end we fall apart. This is because of too many times we can't keep a drive alive.

The offense is not the only problem though. Playing 10 yards off the LOS is killing us and teams are just taking what we give them.

Do we even have the personnel for a 3-4? I wouldn't think so.

Converting to a 3-4 takes a lot of time

Visit the draft thread......big discussion about it in there. They think we only need a NT, and I think it will take much more plus alot of hope.

If Much is dumped they should hire Perry Fewl. Should have hired him in the first place.

    :wall:

Houston had a 4-3. 29th ranked defense in the league. Phillips converted to 3-4. 4th ranked in first season. 1st ranked so far this season. We probably have more pieces right now than they did.

Casey was a NT... Still looks like a NT.
