So basically he's playing more outfielder and not SS.... Is that not the same difference? Not really down in the box

I've said this multiple times and I'll say it again : The 3-4 defense is not some kind of magical fix all that can be installed and instantly make you a top 5 defense. 4/10 of the top 10 defenses in terms of yards so far this season run a 4-3 (Chicago, Detroit, Denver, and Seattle) and 7/10 of the top 10 defenses in terms of scoring also runs 4-3 (Chicago, Seattle, Tampa Bay, St. Louis, Atlanta, Denver, and New York).

Defenses are good because they have talented players and coaches that understand how to utilize that talent. The number of linebackers on the field at any given moment is irrelevant.

But do you not agree that our current players could definitely benefit from the switch?

If we don't switch, we MUST draft a DE in the 1st or pick up an elite one in FA....until we have DE's that can consistently pressure the QB, we won't be nearly as effective as we would like.

Atleast there are a plethora of DE's to choose from this year...hopefully we pick the right one!(if we stay 43 lol) This may be our only choice because I'm not sure if Cliff Avril or Connor Barwin would even be worth the money...Avril has benefited from who is on the d-line with him in detroit...Barwin is only good in 34..

Alright so we are not going to be changing to 3-4. So my new 4-3 Draft goes like this. Picking 10-15 range.

    1. Bjorn Werner DE Florida State
    2. Kawann Short DT Purdue
    3. Matt Elm SS Florida
    4. Alvin Bailey RG Arkansas
4(c). Exekial Ansah DE Brigham Young
    5. Braxton Cave C Notre Dame
    7. Cierre Wood RB Notre Dame

Upgrade both lines and get a starting SS.

^^^^Nice....just replace the 2nd round pick with a center and I think you've got something.

Only Center thats better than Cave is Barrett Jones, if he falls to the 2nd round which he might than yes I'd take him.
Otherwise Short would be a steal in the second. Him and Casey would stuff the middle whilst Marks, Martin and Klug sub in. We'd have Wimbley,Werner,Morgan and Ansah coming off the edge.

If that Kave guy (you sure you don't mean Khaled Holmes???) is the 2nd best center in the draft then he will go much higher than the 5th round...I think a center is MUCH more or a need that DT....the young trio of Casey, Martin and Klug is fine by me(for atleast another season).

I love the DE rotation you envision for us...

http://www.und.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/cave_braxton00.html This Guy, CBS has him ranked 4-5 round. I dont think Holmes is that much different if any to Cave, Cave has been playing very well for ND so far, so he will probably grade out in the 3-4 round.

I think Hutch may end up playing center next year for us, whilst a rookie Center sits.

    Roos-Amano or Harris - Hutch - Bailey - Stewart

That would be the idea, with Cave coming in a year and us getting a younger LG

Really? Has Hutch ever played center??? probably not good to just assume he can make that move and be effective when he's struggled this year at his normal position.

No, we need to keep Hutch at LG and get some type of chemistry going....Also, my reasoning for taking 2 interior lineman in the first 4 rounds is so that Amano/Harris don't have to start...

Also, if he's graded as a 3-4 round prospect, he won't last til the 5th...dd

What would you all think if Barrett Jones was on the board in the late first(say pick 31), and a team offered that pick for a future 1st and our compensatory(late 3rd)???? I'd probably do it.
