    He simply wasn't that great.

And let's be honest: If it weren't for his "tragedy", we wouldn't be talking about him right now.

He'd be just another "good" ex player.

I liked Steve for about a 3 yr span- but really he only had about 3 good years in him. The rest, he was mediocre and got by on "Being a warrior" which usually hurt the team more than helped (see the times Volek actually came in while Mac was sucking).

Wanted him gone about 2 yrs before he left for the Ravens. That along with his drunk driving issues- all respect was gone.

I agree about Steve being a good player, probably even very good. He had a good career, but by no means a hall of fame one. But he's not just another "good" ex player, and even if he was alive, we'd still be talking about him because he gave up his body and tolerated every bit of pain for the franchise, and gave this franchise some of its best golden moments, so have a little bit of respect. I don't condone the drunk driving and mistress, the man had his flaws, but he also did a lot of good for the community. In the Titans community, he's a hall of famer.

As for Volek, yeah, McNair was losing it the final years here and Volek played well, but at the same time, Volek was able to freelance and it padded his stats in a rebuilding season anyway, he wouldn't have made a difference in the W/L column. Volek was never a franchise QB.

Only qb to lead us to a superbowl, only qb to win a playoff game for us, only player that won MVP for us, most rushing yards ever in the superbowl by a qb.....etc. He was a great qb for us. HOF worthy? No. If he had won that superbowl against the rams then yes he would be.

the same can not be said for rookie of the year or pro bowl.

Steve was amazing on the field.

Only QB to lead us to a SB - Yes. In a run-heavy defensive minded team. Not one riding his back.

Only QB to win a playoff game for us - This is pretty cheap.

Only player that won MVP for us - *CO-MVP. But True. Though many thought he didn't deserve it. This was one of his 3 good years I'm speaking of.

Most rushing yds by a QB in SB - because there have been so many notorious running QBs in the SB? This stat is garbage.

And no, winning the SB wouldn't have made him HOF worthy.

    At least for a year.

Look at his career... not very impressive.

Maybe I don't wanna look at his career, maybe I like thinking he was greater than sliced bread.
