Chris Johnson isn’t worried about 2013. Right now, his focus is on Sunday’s game against the Jaguars.

The Titans running back knows his performance over the past seven weeks, however, has made him pretty valuable again.

Johnson, who is averaging 117 yards per game since Week 4, acknowledged he’s heard some of the chatter about his future with the team because of his pricy contract. Johnson is scheduled to make $10 million in 2013, and $9 million of it becomes guaranteed early in the league year.

“It’s something I don’t try and think about a lot, but it pops into my head and you know there have been things said or whatever,’’ Johnson said. “But it is a situation where if I am here I’ll continue to do what I do, and if I’m not I’m sure there are 31 other teams out there that would love to have me.”

Johnson, who signed a $53.5 million contract extension prior to the 2011 season, is under contract with the team through the 2016 season. Through 10 games, Johnson has 862 rushing yards and four touchdowns, and he’s on pace for the second-highest rushing total of his career, behind only his 2,006-yard season of 2009.

Johnson likes what the Titans have done in the run game of late.

“It’s the sort of thing when you get the big contract and stuff and people expect you to go for 2,000 yards every year,’’ Johnson said. “I am sure whatever my number is at the end of the year this year, people are still going to have things to say that I didn’t go over 2,000 yards or whatever. It’s a situation where you really can’t buy into that. You just sort of have to block those things out and do what you have to do.”

He's saying the right things now. He might not admit he was slackin in September, but he knows he was.

If he finishes strong and we reap the benefits that usually come with a 1500 yard RB, I will be thrilled to have him back in 2013. The player he is now is the player we need.

People are putting too much stock into yardage.

I really do not care about his total yardage as much as I care about his YPC in key moments in the game. He has been doing real well in just about all aspects of the game and as long as nothing changes I would expect him to be back next season.

CJ is already 100% back next year as long as he doesn't have 4+ duds the rest of the year.

The entire team was horrible the first few weeks of the season. There is enough blame to go around. I am glad that CJ is CJ again, period. He doesn't miss games, and he is running north south now. Locker, Ringer , Britt, Roos, Otto, and Harris have all been out during the season, and that's just on offense. We are going to need his rushing and his limited recieving skills for these last 6 games.

which would be why we find a real back-up. Jamie Harper hurt us just as much as CJ did. If he was any good no one would be able to hate Chris Johnson.

had we found a good backup for CJ... there would've been a runningback controversy..
