It wouldn’t be fair to expect big changes in the Titans’ offense only days after Dowell Loggains takes over from Chris Palmer as coordinator.

But expect some differences nonetheless when the Titans (4-7) take on the Texans (10-1) at LP Field this Sunday.

“I think you’ll see a difference,” coach Mike Munchak said on his weekly radio show on Tuesday. “When someone else calls the game, there’s a different flow to the game. I think if you’re a true fan and you watch the play-by-play, you’ll see a different mentality of how you attack a defense, what plays you call in certain situations. Hopefully that will lead to us staying on the field and really doing offensively what we should be doing.”

Munchak said that if anything, Loggains will simplify what the Titans are doing by cutting back on some things.

“If we have results like I think we will, you’re going to see an offense that’s hopefully a little more effective and making more plays,” Munchak said. “The players still have to make those plays. They have to catch the ball. They have to keep their feet in bounds. That’s obviously a huge part of all this.”

Former Titans quarterback Kerry Collins, who was coached by then-quarterbacks coach Loggains in 2010, said he believes the offense will be innovative.

“I think the playmakers are there,” Collins said. “Those guys are extremely capable of doing some great things. You have to be creative to get the ball in peoples’ hands and I think Dowell is going to try to, if anything, step up the creativity.”

Collins said he thinks that in time, the passing offense under Loggains will resemble some of the league’s best.

“He has a good feel for the passing game. I think it’s going to be his bread and butter,” Collins said. “He’s been around a lot of good coordinators that are passing-oriented and have been at the top of the game as far as being innovative and being on the edge of what offenses do in this league.

“So I think he’ll mix in a lot of things. I don’t see him being very one-dimensional or very easy to predict. I think he’ll try to be very aggressive and try to keep defenses off balance.”

Sounds like KC liked him.... I really hope this pans out as well as its being hyped but makes you wonder why Palmer was even hired.

I tend to think Munchak wanted someone with head coaching experience when he hired Palmer. At that point Munchak had never done anything more than coach the O-Line.

Yeah that's understandable. We shall see how this pans out. Locker has been quoted saying that loggains isn't as much if a fan of the option routes, so there will be the change with that. And that they see things a lot alike.

if this guy turns out as one of the greatest offense of coordinators in the NFL and he's been on our staff the entire time......

I'm going to be a little pissed.

He's been there 5 years and is only 32. They don't start out as OCs.
