Titans coach Mike Munchak said he thinks Jake Locker’s slow start against Houston on Sunday led to the second-year quarterback putting even more pressure on himself.

The Titans posted just two first downs in the opening quarter and just three points in the first half. Locker’s numbers were awful at halftime: He was 8-for-22 with two interceptions and a 12.7 quarterback rating.

“Maybe he got frustrated a little early when a couple balls of got tipped and they got the pick and we fumbled,” Munchak said of Locker. “Quarterbacks feel like they have to pick up the slack and make something happen like we all do.

“That can happen and (there were) unfortunately a couple of big plays that hurt us with turnovers and then he settled down, which was the key thing. He settled down and made that game … it got a little exciting toward the end if we could have made a couple plays.”

Munchak said Locker seemed more anxious than he had been a few weeks ago in Miami, when Locker returned from a long injury absence and guided the Titans to a 37-3 win.

“When he came back in the Miami game, it seemed like he was more relaxed and he threw balls away,” Munchak said. “This game, it seemed like he took a couple sacks instead of throwing the ball away, things like that … Why it happens, I don’t know.”

I saw Jake pressing later in the game. He was making shlt happen. We were on the comeback. That being said, a first year starter can only do so much by himself. He has a crap coaching staff calling crap plays and a couple of crap players taking up valuable real estate between the goal posts.

Keep giving it your all Jake. You'll get there!

Oh, and i dont give a crap if cj1yd lovers dont like this post either. Nuttin personal though.

Soooooo Jake Locker is getting crap play calls from crap coaches but seemed to have no issue getting to the 20. But when he got to the 20 and had 4 plays to get 10 yards the crap was just too much and too much crap piled up on Jake 'Not my fault' Locker?

Alot of drops yesterday, that did not help. I thought that was the worst I have seen locker play against a depleted secondary.

Cook dropped a first down pass inside the 5. Wright dropped two first down passes inside the 20.

    Not Jake's fault.

    Not the coaches either.

Point is you can't praise Jake until the 20 yard line. All or nothing.

I usually defend jake but he was not getting rid of the ball. Had balls sailing high and also threw behind the reciever to many times. It would help had he gotten to play more the last 2 years but he did not. I just thought he played bad and yes he had help in that too.

I don't think anyone is praising Locker for laying eggs in the red zone, but people sure are taking dumps on him for it. He was putting the ball in the receivers hands in the red zone. He was executing. The receivers were half a**ing it out there all game. Locker had a bad game because the offense had a bad game. The play calling was horrible and everyone around Locker played terribly. The receivers were getting ZERO seperation and dropping passes left and right. The O line was getting dominated. How is a QB supposed to get into a groove with help like that?

He wasn't getting rid of the ball fast enough because every one of his receivers were blanketed all game. He's got the tools, he just needs coaching and experience.
