I think what's even worse than us being apathetic as fans is when the players are on this team are so apathetic because they don't have confidence in the coaching staff. I know that no one expected Loggains to come in and light it up but he did nothing evenly remotely different than what Palmer was doing.

A lot has to happen for us to get better. I'm with Riverman 100%. The guys in charge totally downplayed the importance of upgrading the o-line and it bit us in the ass. A lot of the poor production was on CJ but the o-line was clearly needing to be improved. Hutchinson was a nice addition but we could have/should have done better than that. Wimbley was a nice addition too but we still did not upgrade the DT spot. Marks has played surprisingly well but he's far from a beast in the middle.

I didn't want to admit it but looking back we definitely screwed the pooch by letting Cortland go, overpaying Griffin and not upgrading Babineaux's spot.

Let me ask you two questions.

If Munchak is coach next year... How long do you give Locker under a new OC?

If Munchak is not the coach next year and Locker shows no progress? Do you give up on him in 2014?

I agree, the FO is a joke and is lightyears behind the rest of the league. If we don't fix that... the problems will just snowball to the product on the field.

It's mad late in the year to completely change things dude, what was he suppose to do?

This time where Loggains is calling games is more about him than it is anything else. Can he be our OC? Thats what we need to find out.

Your observations are completely correct when you look at the data on these charts

I know this wasn't directed at me, but....

That's the problem with keeping Munchak around for 2013. He will inevitably be ousted after the season. Then you're going to have Locker entering his 4th season, with a new HC and OC, learning an entirely new system. There will be growing pains. And 2014 is the last year Locker is under contract. It's going to end up being time to decide whether or not to give him a new contract and we still aren't going to really know exactly what we have with him.

If it goes down like that, then that means:
2011: Locker was running a funky hybrid Dinger/Palmer offense
2012: Locker was running a Palmer offense.
2013: Locker was running a Loggains offense.
2014: Locker was running a TBD offense.

We effectively Alex Smith'd him with so many coordinator/offensive changes. We would have never given Locker time to really settle in to an offense. We won't have a clue what we really have with the guy (unless of course he just lights it up in 2013-2014).

Oh well. Not sure why I'd expect anything different from this team.

Eh, I was being somewhat facetious. Although, I am of the opinion that we need to completely blow it up again. Rebuilding sucks, but rebuilding the wrong way can mar a franchise for a decade.

That said, I'm still not convinced of whether Locker is or isn't a franchise QB. I loved him coming out of Washington and thought it was a marvelous pick, but I've been a bit discouraged by his development. I'm still holding out hope for him. Though if we really are bad enough to draft Johnny Manziel in 2014, I highly doubt Locker is the answer.

We have given Locker 2 years under Munchak and he has made very little progress. Munch made it clear that Locker was his pick. 2 years isn't enough time to give up on a young prospect like Locker, but honestly it IS enough time to give up on Munchak. The team's performance is much worse than it was at the start of his tenure. To answer your question, I'd give Locker another 2 years under whoever might come in which would put him at a reasonable point to extend or cut. Definitely would have to see better performance out of him to even think about an extension at that time.

I don't see Bud keeping coaches (including Munchak) or FO around. Season ticket holders are absolutely fed up with the franchise. The less loyal ticket holders bailed out last year challenging the long "sell-out" record. A huge number will dump their PSL's this year simply because there is no curiosity left about Munchak/Webster/Reindfeldt. People are loyal only up to a point. Going to be a windfall exodus on the season ticket program unless something drastic happens to infuse hope and curiosity. And this is one situation that winning won't fix. Reaching 8-8 with a late season victory run won't do it. Fans have seen that trick done too many times. It's going to take wholesale changes.

But he also did nothing well. His playcalling was a joke. We only showed signs of life after it was way too late in the game.

What exactly are people expecting from him? This whole team is bad, he gets little help. Jake has done nothing wrong so far.
