He needs a decent coordinator, a better HC, and a good oline.

He's surrounded by mediocrity at the moment.

I really don't see how people are trashing Locker after this game.

Last week people were complaining because "Locker tries to do to much and turns the ball over", "Locker just doesn't win games", "He can't score in the redzone"

Last night Locker didn't try to do too much. Munch told him to tuck and run if he didn't see anything there right away, and thats what he did. He didn't turn ball over. Drove the team down the field and scored a redzone TD when we really needed it, and we won the game.

What more do you guys want? A polished QB that is going to come in and throw 350 yards, 0 ints, and 3 TDs? ... That will take time and exp. to get to. You can't realisticly expect Locker to do that now. He needs reps

If you want Locker to put up yards, then he will have to throw a lot and right now he will throw ints ... thats what young QBs do. If you don't want the ints, then limit his throws. But you aren't going to get both right now.

And lets not forget that the Jets have the #2 ranked passing D in the NFL. No easy task for a young QB.

Is Locker perfect? Absolutely not, but who in the world expected him to be at this point. We knew that this year would probably be rough for him, but it was a learning experience that he needed and growing pains he needed to go through ... now that we are going through it, everyone wants to claim him a bust because he is doing what we already knew he would do???

when you put it like that it does sound pretty good...

but i'm sorry, he still keeps missing too many passes and at most times just doesn't look the part...

reading defenses, spending too much time on a target (staring down receivers), etc... are problems you can fix - but time and time again its his accuracy (or lack thereof) that keeps me worried.

especially when considering that it doesn't seem to be as a result of bad mechanics, dude just isn't on the money - he keeps missing easy (and i mean EASY) passes all game(s) long...

Again, no matter how much reps you get, if your not accurate, you just won't make it in this pass-happy league....

Obviously Locker needs to improve, but that is why he is playing right now. With every mistake he makes he learns. Everytime he gets a little more film, he learns.

I think going into the offseason KNOWING he is the starter will be big for him. I think the biggest mistake was waiting so long to name him starter. Jake is a young, raw QB .. the only way you get better from there is repitition. We took about 1/2 of his reps away this offseason.

Every week we are seeing improvement in some area for Locker. Last week he did a good job of moving the ball, put up a lot of yards and threw a lot of nice balls ... but he also threw a few costly ints.

This week he eliminated his ints by running if he didn't see guys open (Which is what Munch instructed him to do) and we won the game. He played game manager at times, but also got made a few plays and got us a TD win we really needed it to win. (honestly I would rather Munch just let him throw 50 times, even if he throws 5 ints so he can learn how fast windows close and things like that, but whatever)

He hasn't put it all together yet, but each week we are seeing a different piece to his game. A little improvement somewhere. He definitely has a ways to go, but he is moving in a positive direction.

That being said, his OL is terrible. He has guys in his face or around his feet every single play. We also can't get much push to get CJ going, and combining that with a lot of needless penalties we are putting Locker behind in the down and distance a lot. Which is making it harder on him. Some of the playcalls are head scratchers too.

Locker will be benefited greatly by a revamped OL and a new OC that knows how to call plays for a young QB.

Not every QB is going to be amazing out of the gate. Some take a while. We all knew Locker was gioing to take some time.

A little history for those of you who were not fans back in the Oilers days. Steve McNair was third string as a rookie and backup in his second year. His first couple years as a starter were nothing special.

I really see what your saying and agree for the most part.

But again man, if you want to be a 'game manager' then 2 things: 1 you need to be accurate (which as you saw in the other post, i'm just not sure he is); 2 you need a good D....

also, it remains to be seen if a team like the '2000 Ravens' can win a SB going forward in this crazy a** league (i mean it won't be the last time you see a team put up 100+ points in 2 weeks).

I think you guys are blowing his accuracy issues out of porportion right now. Could it be better? Yes. He does miss guys sometimes, but so do a lot of players. You CAN improve accuracy though ... VY proved that

    VY in his 1st year - 51%
His last year in TN - 60%

Right now Locker is at 57% ... ahead of where VY was.

Look at andrew Luck ... he is only completing 54% of his passes. He misses wide open guys all the time, but are people worried about him? No, he is in the running for ROY
