    Steve Watterson

For those of you who don't know, Steve Watterson is the Titans strength and conditioning coach.

Seemed to me the Titans got pushed backwards an alarmingly high percentage of plays this season. The Titans converted 3rd and short by handing the ball to CJ fairly well in 08, 09, and 2010, but struggled to do so the last 2 seasons. Watterson has coached here for 27 years. 27 years that are well appreciated too. However, it seems time to bring someone in that will push these guys strength wise. There's something really disgusting about watching your favorite team get pushed around out there. Especially when you have hall of fame talent in a 195 lb RB!!!

    The thing is Steve,.........................................................

How does it feel to be fired by a man who appears to have a pomeranian on his head Steve?

Wy the hate on Watterson? I'm for youth in the S&C dept but I've always felt Watterson was reasonably good.

I did read it but didn't understand it. If he's been here for 27 years, why all of a sudden would he be responsible for our team being "out-physical-ed"? He was the same guy around when we were blowing up the opponents line on both sides of the ball.

I think the lack of physicality reflects other coaches. I think Tracy Rocker is a joke for a DL coach, not sold on Gray, and Bruce Matthews has NEVER coached an OL worth a chit. I haven't ever seen anything but reasonable quality out of Watterson. IIRC, he was one of the first in the league to employ "kettle-ball" training which made average framed guys strong as hell. He was highly regarded for embracing that technique early. Now programs across the country do the same.

Personally, I doubt that Watterson has any significant impact on the team. Sure, he's the strength coach... it's up to the player to push themselves and get to that next level. A coach can only inspire you so much to get into the weight room, the rest is on your shoulders - especially at an NFL level.
