Titans return man Darius Reynaud has been named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in Sunday’s game vs. the Jaguars.

Reynaud returned two punts for touchdowns in the team’s 38-20 win over Jacksonville.

His 69-yard punt return for a touchdown gave the Titans a 21-14 lead late in the first half. In the third quarter, Reynaud returned a punt 81 yards for a touchdown.

Reynaud set the franchise record and tied the NFL record with two punt return touchdowns in the same game.

Reynaud also won the award in Week 3 against the Lions when he set a franchise record by returning a kickoff 105 yards for a touchdown.

    bye bye, Mark Mariani.
Seems like a nice guy, though. Good luck to him.

We're not letting Mariani go that easily. Reynaud may be more flashy, but Mariani doesn't mess around, he's as good as anyone at securing the ball and getting up field, he doesn't waste time dancing left and right like Reynaud sometimes does.

It'll be a very good competition between those two this summer.

Mariani will not make the 53 man roster. There are actual needs that could be addressed with that spot. He is not an NFL quality receiver, and returner is the least valuable skill position in the nfl.

Reynaud was good for the first 2 weeks, awful for the next 13, then good for 1. If that's all you need to do to make this roster and earn a starting spot, then we're in for a long next few years.

Mariani will be on the team. Unless his leg snapping in half really did some damage.

Are you basing this off of his 2011 season? because he did improve as a receiver before breaking his leg this summer. As far as creating separation goes, he needs some work, but his hands are as soft as pillows.

He's no lock to make it of course, but lets see where he's at.

I personally don't care which one they keep.. but I feel like Reynaud is of more benefit outside of special teams.. and is a more explosive returner. That horrific broken leg can't be easy to come back from, either.

They should not keep both. And Reynaud did not do anything to deserve to be cut, and I believe, did enough to win a roster spot for 2013.

What did Mariani do to deserve to be cut? Not like he handed the ball to the Denver broncos when he went down.
Mariani can play WR, Reynaud can't run the ball to save his life.

When you come back from a serious injury.. you have to re-prove that you are worthy of a roster spot.. it's dirty, but that's how it is with every player. I like Mariani, I just doubt that he will be back to what he was by next season. If he's back to 100 percent, then that's great news.

What did he do to get cut? Missed the entire 2012 season with a serious injury, and if he doesn't get back to greatness, it's enough to get plenty of people cut, ala David Givens, Calico, etc.

Especially as worthless as returners are in today's new NFL.
