I would like to sign a FA RB and a 4th-5th round RB. Harper shouldn't be on this team anymore, it's clear that he doesn't have it. In his limited number of plays, i've been very disappointed. Big body, runs like a softy.

Free agent Peyton Hillis interests me. He signed a 1yr/2.8m deal with the Chiefs and it didn't work out. He also got that 2.8 mil because he was coming off a 587 yds & 3 TDs in 10 games and in the prior year a 1,177 yard & 11 TD season. He only compiled 309 yards in 13 games this year. However, he's 26 and still runs hard. He runs North & South and we need that power back. If we offer him say a 3yr/6m deal, that could land him. We'd have a cheap 2m/yr backup and his deal expires when he's 29 (when RBs start to degrade). He gets a long term deal, which hopefully he'll like since he's been on 3 dif teams already.

Draft (5th Rd) - Kerwynn Williams. 5'8 190 RB from Utah St, projected to run a 4.4. Sr. Year stats -- Rushing: 218a, 1512 Yards, 6.9 YPC, 15 TDs & Receiving: 45 rec, 697 Yards, 5 TDs. He didn't return kicks this year, since he was the primary RB. However, in past years he spelled Robert Turpin (current backup for SEA). In his 3 years of playing, he was their primary KR for 2 years and also returned some punts. I watched this guy v. Toledo in his bowl game. Ran for 235 yards/3 TDs on 18 carries. Watched a interview of him and he was well spoken and carried a 3.8 GPA throughout college. This guy can be our #3 RB, replace CJ for the "speed" RB carries (if CJ needs a break) and can return kicks.

RB Depth Chart & % of snaps:
    1 - Chris Johnson - 70% - 15-20 carries
    2 - Peyton Hillis - 25% - 5-10 carries
    3 - Kerwynn Williams - 5% - 0-5 carries

Nobody is surprised about Harper. He runs like a wimp, and everybody knew it, looking at draft reports. Almost anyone on that list would be an upgrade. I like the Idea of Brandon Jacobs.. but haven't seen a second of him since his Giants days. He should do well as the polar opposite of CJ, if he's anything like he was back then.

Of all the listed free agents, theres only a few I'd look at

    Steven Jackson (Player Option)
    Chris Ivory (RFA)
    Reggie Bush
    Rashard Mendenhall
    Cedric Benson
    Shonn Greene
    Bernard Scott
    Peyton Hillis
    Brandon Jacobs
    Rashad Jennings
    La'Rod Stephens-Howling
    Cedric Peerman
    Brian Leonard
    Mike Goodson
    Tashard Choice
    Andre Brown
    Jonathan Dwyer
    Chris Redman

The ones I put in bold are the ones we could benefit greatly from

I think it's safe to say the Titans will keep CJ regardless of his price tag. I agree with many here the Titans need a short-yardage/change-of-pace runner.

I would not waste a draft pick on any unless a real value is found in the mid to late-rounds. I think looking to the free agency list for a one-year signing is the route to go. Lots of options available.

I think Harper will get another look but might not survive camp. I actually liked the few carries he got right before he was injured. He hit it hard and was effective. That's the kind of RB the team needs so he might bulk up and try to be that Lendale White-kind of runner the Titans need.

I think Mooney will get a look as well. I liked his few carries and right now I think he has a greater chance to be on the roster come week 1, than Harper.
