    Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...

Our GM has a damn good track record in one draft. Wright-Brown-Martin-Sensibaugh. But fire him anyway.

I won't deny that. But there's more to being a good GM than drafting well.

He also completely ignored our biggest area of need (OL). And we paid dearly for that oversight. Oh wait, I forgot about the over the hill 35 year-old guard we brought in. Good on you Ruston.

Then he rewarded arguably our worst defensive starter with a long-term deal. Now we're stuck with him at least for 2013, probably longer.

That said, I'm glad we at least got rid of Reinfeldt and perhaps he was having a big impact on some of Webster's decisions.

You have apparently not watched Griffin or Babs tackle. They could be MENSA member and it would not help our defense.

I don't think we have it as bad as we sometimes think we are. I live in Bills territory and spent a good time growing up near the Lions. Would not trade places with them.

Leadership on defense is an issue as well. I thought McCarthy was stepping up to be that guy but he's never on the field. Griffin or Morgan should be taking on that role.

As much as I want to hate Ray Lewis, he's been the kind of leader the Titans D has been lacking.

    BTW, Verner agrees.

“I just think that we have to have some type of killer instinct or swag,” Verner said. “We need a little bit more of that. You look at some of the (other NFL) defenses and you just see, you just feel, that confidence. Sometimes I don’t get that sense from our defense.
“That’s where the killer instinct comes in. We’re a really good defense and I think we have real big capabilities of doing things week in and week out. We just have to tap into that every week.”

Griffin should be given his experience. Leadership is lacking badly this year with the loss of Finnegan.

Yeah. We all thought McCarthy would be that guy. Let's hope he gets these injury woes behind him and can step up and be that guy from now on.

As for Griffin, I know because of his contract he SHOULD be a leader. But the problem with him is, he can't even do his own job well. He can't be missing tackles left and right and shying away from contact and then expect his teammates to rally around him. It generally doesn't work like that. Leader's have to set the example on the field first and foremost.

Ray Lewis wasn't just some big talker. He backed it up with an undying intensity and it bled over onto the rest of the defense. And made his teammates aspire to play at his level. Whereas with Griff, the younger guys are looking at him and seeing a 6 year vet, who is constantly rewarded for poor play and half-assed effort. He sets an awful example. I truly believe things would be SO different right now had we rewarded the right player (Finnegan) with the long-term deal.

Maybe Morgan develops into that leader we want. But I think it's probably more likely to be Ayers or Brown.
