Anyone arguing for Alabama while using their pathetic schedule is joking, surely.

None of those other teams have the cupcakes that Bama played.

Name something that hits like a train, something that was a total pain, and something has won 6 National Championships in a row

Clowney, Appalachian State Mountaineers and the SEC-SEC-SEC

Notre Dame: Navy, Purdue, Wake Forest, Boston College, Miami (FL)
Oregon: Arkansas State, Tennessee Tech, Washington State, Colorado, California
Alabama: Arkansas, Tennessee, Auburn, Mizzou, West Carolina, West Kentucky

Mind you, most of Bama's cupcakes could beat ND and Oregon's cupcakes.

I can already tell this is going to be a waste of time but let's just back this up a bit. In college football this year there really isn't one great team, I think we can all agree to this. So when you don't have one great team everyone is going to take an L unless you're Notre Dame who got hella lucky this year with a few games.

No team plays to the same level week in and week out despite level of talent or whatever conference their in. Which is why comparing teams and games is a bit unfair for really everyone. Mutual opponents is something to look at but everything else really just ends in a very biased opinion. "Well they would beat this team if they played them" and all that nonsense is just First Take debate crap.

However, let's start with Oregon. I mean I don't even think they played a current ranked opponent on their schedule now until Kansas St. SEC teams may schedule an extra cupcake game but at least the SEC faces more ranked teams in conference play. I'm looking at the Pac 12 or 10 or whatever and they had a really down year. That's not Oregon's fault but looking at the whole schedule instead of just OOC it shows up. Let's jump to their loss though against Stanford. First off, I'm making no excuses for Bama. That was a trap game and a game I got very nervous about early in the season, going on the road and playing a game like they did against LSU only leads to a hangover game the next week and unfortunately that came against A&M. Oregon however really only had this one game on their schedule to prepare for and still got beat, at home. A Stanford team that's physical and actually plays defense, remind you guys of two other certain teams? Oregon choked their way out of the title game, just like they did last year. They have a flashy offense but any good defense that plays physical and has some speed can stop them. Also the system was not unfair to Oregon this year either. They started the preseason in the top 3ish, they kept winning, Bama lost, Oregon takes over, they lose, Bama takes back over. I don't see how that's unfair, you had your shot and it cost you. If you want to get into pre season rankings as a reason fine but both their losses came in the middle of the season when rankings would've already been out, this wasn't first couple of weeks type deal. We knew what these two teams were capable of, both top 3 teams. Just like last year's controversy they had their chance and lost. It's not Bama's fault that after they lost everyone else in front of them lost as well, that's called getting lucky. Seriously Oklahoma St?

Texas A&M is about to make Bama look pretty bad here but I'll get to them in a minute. You say they dominated the SEC and was only a C level team in the Big 12 yet against the only quality teams they faced this year they went 1-2 with that win coming against Bama. Their next big win was last night against Oklahoma (the top Big 12 school) and demolished them. So I guess they're not really C level Big 12 now after all? If they were in the Big 12 this year they would have a strong chance of going undefeated. They were a streaky team this year with some rough games and then games that truly wowed you, so it's easy to see how they are a top 5 team despite a couple losses.

Okay Bama. 3 cup cake OOC games scheduled boom there's your material but we'll just ignore that they played Michigan in Dallas and demolished them. You can say whatever injury excuse you want but when you get dominated 41-14, no guy is coming onto that field and changing the final result. Oh and that was Bama's first game after losing like 5 first round picks, honestly thought it would've been a much closer game. Bama had only 3 tough games this year and went 2-1. A win at LSU at night is statistically one of the hardest places to win but throw in the bad blood from last year and just overall the past few years it was definitely one of the more emotional football games I've seen in a few years. This isn't making excuses, just as a football fan it was a great game to watch. Well that very next week Johnny Football came right in and beat us. Unfortunately the hangover from last week lasted a whole quarter and that 20-0 hole was too difficult to climb out of even though Bama went on a 24-9 run and a chance to win on the final possession but hey it's whatever. Last test was against UGA who was ranked 3rd at the time, in ATL, for a spot in the national championship and won. If someone can tell me why Oregon was so much mightier please let me know because when the championship was on the line Bama won their game and Oregon didn't.

Notre Dame, not gonna waste much time on this one. They got lucky getting through undefeated even with that weak schedule. It'll be a close game for a while Monday night but expecting Bama to pull away. Oklahoma always sucks in big games, Stanford was cheated basically, Pitt what the hell, and USC is not the same program anymore. They're a good team but I think they're 4th or 5th best in the nation. Bama, Oregon, A&M, and maybe even UGA.

As for bowl games themselves, I don't really put a lot of stock into results unless it's the NCG obviously. It really comes down to who wants to win that game more. Some teams fight for respect, first big game, new up and coming coach trying to prove himself, etc etc. As for the whole SEC down year, I tend to agree actually. Florida doesn't have a consistent offense, hardly any depth in the conference this year, and defensive stats are better because of the usual grudge matches that happen during conference play (but not always see SECCG). Florida didn't come out wanting it against Louisville, pretty obvious imo. Louisville had everything in the world to play for while Florida just looked like crap even though they've played much better.

It's fine to think Oregon is the best team, I tended to agree for most of the season but they just couldn't get it done, for 2 straight seasons now when the opportunity was theirs. Now it's 3:30 in the morning and I'm not rereading this, you guys get it. Basically everything comes down to personal opinion but I hate that we can't do an eye ball test anymore in college football and have a discussion, now a days you throw whatever stat out there that can make your case. I guess NFL is still that though, so that's a positive. Which is also why I'm ready for a playoff but I wouldn't mind getting rid of the rule that 6-6 teams are allowed to play in bowl games, what a load of crap. In the end I think Bama gets it done and they're the best team in the country, case can be made for A&M and Oregon but they're not playing for it all and don't have the chance to beat Notre Dame.

If Bridgewater wasn't playing with one arm during those weeks where Louisville lost, the Cards would be undefeated and probably playing bama in the NC game and Bridgewater would have done what he did to Florida to Alabama. Bama is suspect in the secondary and other than their offensive line, there isn't much to be scared of offensively. You can run all over Sun Belt teams or teams that get beat by Sun Belt and Big East teams like the rest of the SEC but that doesn't make you a great running back. Bama will beat ND by more than 7 points because ND doesn't pass the eye ball test.

    two last things:

This is the year we need a playoff, Would be exciting to see some of these bowl champions play each other.

The college football season is too short to really know who the best team is every year. Just like in the NFL, in college, teams seem to hit their stride after 8 games and in college football, the seasons almost complete at that point. I don't think anyone here, including the players that play college football would be opposed to a 20 game college football season. 16 weeks. 2 byes every 8 weeks. then a sweet 16 of the top tier bowl games... and make some of the lesser known bowls.. your little caesars bowl or the beefobradys bowl... let some of those teams play their way into the sweet 16.

Yeah, its a lot of football and teams could look completely different at the beginning of the season as opposed to the end of the season.

I was also very generous in what teams I didn't deem "cupcakes" for ND and Oregon.

And obviously ND and Oregon played cupcakes like Bama did, I just listed them you illiterate.

I would actually love to see that match up, think it would be a really good game.

I've always kind of liked making every conference have a championship game and then those winners go into a bracket then let like 4 at large bids in all determined by a committee or something similar to the way NCAAB does it. If that means we have to shorten the season that's fine, let the top seeds have a first round home game then everything else is neutral.
