I'd say the biggest reason is the inept offense and poor field position.

Inept secondary plus no pressure in the middle.

When he was resigned ,all I could think was " In the whole world the Titans could not find another person who was better than this guy? And to pay him what they did ( considering his bad play) he should at least wear a mask when he picks up his undeserved check.

Secondary, inconsistent DT play, and Jerry Gray. Offense and field position, had a little impact.

I say that because I believe that a safety's ability to play at a high level is to heavily influenced by the front 7 of a defense. Clemons is a good all around safety and is a huge upgrade from the trash we had this season.

Very interesting looking at PFF ratings of FAs...

PacMan Jones is the top rated CB
Fernando Velasco is the 2nd rated center
William Hayes is the 5th rated DE
Jason Jones, Randy Starks, and Kevin Vickerson all get good ratings...while Sen Derrick Marks is one of the worst rated DT.

Okay. Because there has never been a good defense without a good offense right? How did the Ravens win their Super Bowl again? 49ers with Alex Smith? Bears with Rex Grossman? Our defense got abused no matter where the other team started. The Jaguars picked up a RB off the street and he ran on us in our last game. 41 given up to the Lions and that was our best offensive game and against the severely banged up Steelers.

Now I understand your point, a lot of our turnovers led to points for the other team and we put our defense in some tough spots but we had arguably a bottom 5 safety tandem last year, our DE"s may have gotten pressures but didn't bring down the QB enough, our DT position was a weird rotation every week, and our MLB can't stay on the field.

We have more problems than just the offense's field position...

offense had little impact? is that sarcasm? Locker's drive killing and the offensive lines inability to block anyone kept the defense on the field, had dumb turnovers, and put us in bad position.

Both of you are correct. The offense with its ineptitude certainly didn't help the defense out at all. The total points given up per game is misleading because it doesn't account for turnovers that lead to immediate scores which really shouldn't count totally against the defense.

The defense did however give up over 56 drives of 50+ yards. I have no idea how that stacks up with the rest of the league because it was some info that I culled from going over each games drive chart last week. But that seems like a pretty high number of long drives and have nothing to do with our offense giving the opponent the ball in scoring position.
