What is the tender on Ivory, anybody know? I know he's a RFA but what's his value?

New Orleans has no use for him, and he's too pricey for them as their 4th RB, so somebody will trade for him, hope it's us.

The deadline for RFA tenders is the start of Free Agency (March 12). By that time the Saints need to make a decision as to what qualifying tender they will offer Ivory. If they don't offer him a tender, he automatically becomes an Unrestricted Free Agent.

The value of RFA tenders last year was:
    Tender amountCompensation required
    $2.742 million First-round
    $1.927 million Second-round
$1.26 million Determined by RFA's original draft status

As Ivory was undrafted, then if the Saints don't tender him at least a 2nd round tender, any team can sign him to an offer sheet, and if the Saints don't match it, he will go to the new club with no compensation required. The deadline for RFAs to negotiate with new clubs is generally sometime in April (before the draft).

The likely scenario is the Saints offer him a 2nd round tender (they are in an awful position cap-wise) and see if any team offers them a trade of a lower pick that they will bite on. Alternatively, Pierre Thomas' contract is very easy for them to get out of, and he may find himself the odd man out and they may look to keep Ivory for the long term.

They will put a 2nd rd tender on Ivory. That's my prediction anyway. And Pierre Thomas would be the odd man out. Thomas would be a good option if they don't use a draft pick on a RB but a hotshot rookie is just the thing to motivate CJ.

Imagine the fans chanting Ed-die, ed-die again or Montee-montee.

I'd take Thomas if he's the one they let go in April, not the powerback I was thinking of but certainly a thumper, definitely a good back to spell C.J. or to steal his starting job 4 weeks into the season. :)
