The Titans are interested in bringing back a familiar face to coach the team’s running backs – Sherman Smith.

Prying Smith, a former Titans assistant who helped develop running back Eddie George, away from the Seattle Seahawks might not be easy, however.

Smith is in his third season with the Seahawks, who will play the Falcons in an NFC playoff game on Sunday. He has a good running back in Marshawn Lynch, and plenty of familiarly in Seattle. It’s where he enjoyed his success as an NFL player.

But coach Mike Munchak would like to bring him back to Nashville, where the two were assistants on former coach Jeff Fisher’s staff. The Titans have an opening at the position after Munchak opted not to renew the contract of running backs coach Jim Skipper last week.

Smith, who spent two seasons with the Redskins (2008-09) after 13 seasons with the Titans, would be a great influence on running back Chris Johnson. He’d bring energy to the field, and the meeting room.

He’s got a pretty good situation in Seattle, though, so it’s going to take one heck of a sales pitch from Munchak.

Why would you go from one of the best and up and coming teams to this pile of sh*t? If he decides to come here I don't trust his decision making abilities.

oh right, i remember fisher never tried to take williams to go with him whenever he had a chance. He also didn't pick mariani because of his son...
Coaches usually add other coaches they mesh well with or they have a prior relationship because they feel comfortable. Not exactly a weird thing.....

I doubt the interest is mutual. He's got a good thing going on in Seattle, I can't see him wanting to leave that to come here.

I don't really care either way, the RB coach on this team does nothing. CJ is CJ, and I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I guess the "right" RB coach can help Harper or any other future RBs

Personally as a positional coach, I wouldn't make a lateral move if I had a family. No point in unsettling them.
