This is kind of stupid to me. He is getting paid $7.5 against our cap next year, probably the 2nd highest outside of CJ, for a backup QB who isn't going to really see the field at all unless Locker gets hurt since we're going to give Locker a full season to see what he's got. That's a lot of money that we could spend on a big named player..

Hope this wasn't posted before..didn't see anything this weekend.

So you'd rather have Rusty playing if Locker gets hurt again?

    Might as well forfeit.

Well we could obviously get someone much cheaper who could do what Hasselbeck does or better for half the money..If Locker gets hurt anyway it's not like we're gonna go anywhere with Matt, the season will be a bust.

Since we don't need the cap space, why not keep Hasselbeck? He's proven he's a good back-up.

After we potentially resign cook and a few other players I bet that $19 million won't look so impressive and we won't have that much to spend except for maybe 2 players. If we cut Amano and/or Beck we'd probably actually have $19 million or so just for FA's

I say BOO to this move. We know what Hasselbeck has to offer.. and it's not much.

I think this is a move to Coddle Locker. A young, talented person would be a threat. Hasselbeck is not. No one's going to fight for him..

Eh, he is a good QB to have back there.

I mean, if we released him, we would basically be saying we do not intend to make the playoffs in the event Locker went down. I don't think we do regardless, but as someone in the front office, you don't make moves like this because it would be like dropping your insurance coverage on your 2 year old sports car.
