Right now I'd love an 8 or 9 win season!

Ok consider we only have 2 national poll recognized championships since their existence in 1936. That still puts us in the top 18 college football programs in the country based on championships. And those aint no half championships either!

So if CBJ is around 8 seasons and gets 8 or 9 wins in all those except lets say he gets 10 in one season, that's still a major step in the right direction for getting the program back on track.

I mean, you know I was all in for Gruden or someone that could potentially give us a Saban type turnaround but it didnt happen. Now I just want to win some freaking games for a change and get back to somewhat respectable. At least build up the TN recruiting base and solidify GA, FL and other normal recruiting areas for UT.

The nightmare has been the last 5 seasons. I think that is over.

I love going onto Scount and checking out who the top recruits were supposed to be from years past.

The 2006 QB class is a fun one. Our Jake Locker was ranked 7th ahead of people like Josh Freeman (15) and Sam Bradford (17). Some guys ranked ahead of Locker include Tim Tebow (3) and Matt Stafford (2). Number 1 QB that year is a highschool teammate of Damian Williams named Mitch Mustain. I think he ended up the third string at USC.

Some interesting names at QB that year

    Sorry, I want championships.

A 9 win season is a failure. Win a championship. LSU, Florida and Alabama are winning multiple titles. I expect the same from Tennessee. They should be playing for one within 5 years. Coaches have done more with less. If by year 5 CBJ doesn't have Tennessee contending for a national title he should be shown the door. I don't want Tennessee to be Georgia. Georgia loves winning 10 games and talking about maybe next year.

Would you be okay with the Titans winning 9 or 10 games every year and getting bounced in the playoffs? Nope, I want championships there too.

The nightmare isn't over until Tennessee gets another crystal football.

That is ridiculous. Have fun believing every season in UT history has been a nightmare outside of 2.

I want championships as well, but no team wins every year. Again we are one of the 18 most successful college football teams and it is ludicrous to say every season but 2 has been a nightmare.

Well, him and Gus Malzahn :)

More find it interesting that he was ranked infront of a group like that. Included are 5 first round picks, 2 of which went first overall and two won a heisman.

Expectations have changed. Alabama changed the game.

College football is a completely different animal now. It is about to change again.

There are 30 to 35 programs (maybe less) who realistically have a chance of winning a national title ever again. 30 to 35 programs in CFB have the resources available to build a championship caliber team. Tennessee is one of those in my opinion. We are one of a hand full to win one in the modern era of CFB.

No team wins every year but a conference title and contending/playing for a national title once every 5-10 years is not unrealistic in this modern era.

We are overdue with no relief in sight.
I think CBJ will be in over his head in the SEC. He already was when he came down to Knoxville and let Dooley's team walk him off the field a couple years ago.

    Beat Bama
    Beat Florida
    Get to Atlanta

Be real Alex. He might get 8 wins in year three and even then people will start calling for his head. The SEC is like the NFLjr.

It is a win now league. Not a traditional "build your program up over the better part of a decade and then MAYBE play for a title" league. That isn't how it works anymore.

I agree mostly with what you are saying but you are not accounting for the even worse shape we are in regarding in-state recruiting and the work Butch has cut out for him just to get us back to a respectable 8-9 wins guaranteed a season.

Regardless I want you to address the nightmare comment. Was 1997 a nightmare for UT? So every year Alabama hasn't won a national title has been a nightmare for them? GET REAL. I want to see if you can admit you are way overboard on those comments or if you are delusional enough to stand by them. Because if you believe that then you will be disappointed no matter what college team you are fan of.

I'm a fan of the Titans, Vols, Predators and Grizzlies.

I live for disappointment. I snort thick lines of disappointment every sports season. Thank god the Vols at least have history and tradition to fall back on.

8-9 will be just fine next year and the year after that. That is what we are expecting.

It is that 4th and 5th years (if he gets them) that worry me. Where he begins to become the 9 win coach he has always been and we get stuck with him.

Of course every year that they don't win a championship is not a nightmare. Let me be dramatic damn it! If you win one every decade or so I can settle for a couple Peach and Sugar Bowls in between. Every now and then I do want three titles in four years though :D

Just once, before I die. Like let me see the Titans win a Super Bowl just once and I'll be happy.

For the record, 97 was a nightmare for me. Tennessee should have won a national title that year too. Big let down.
