The Bears traded Olsen because they had cap issues and would lose him anyway. remember they did a $10M a year with Harris DT who didn't do anything for them after that.

I'm reading contradictions here. Cook is not on the field because he is such an atrocious blocker but Keller and Olsen are on the field. So they are obviously better blockers then. Amazing to me that even TEs who have a reputation for not being good blockers stay on the field but Cook can't.

You would not take Britt and play him at TE would you? If cook is not a good enough blocker to even have out there then he is a WR not a TE! Over the years there have been a lot of good receiving Tes who were not great blockers. Clark and Shockey come to mind. But they were on the field.

There has to be something seriously wrong with Cook as a blocker that they would be more willing to have Quinn on the field over him.

Let's see how Cook does this year with his 3rd OC and 3rd TE coach. If he has another mediocre season do we blame the coaches again?

I agree with Rolltide. Cook should be considered a WR, not a TE. If we decide to not tag him then we need to look at using that money to land a true #1 WR Bowe, Jennings, Wallace.

Having Cook put his hand in the dirt is a waste of his talents. If you don't put your hand in the dirt then you aren't truely a TE.

Let's blow the snap count issue up right now.

What good was it to Olsen's receiving stats to be on the field for their 460 rushing attempts? Nothing at all. So counting total snaps is a waste of time.

Vernon Davis can't catch a pass on any of the 49ers 407 running plays.

I would bet that the play call for 90% of Jared cook's snaps was a pass. So here comes Cook fresh off the bench, has not been butting heads with linebacker. He should be effective that is all he does.

Look at it this way; We averaged 580 pass attempts the last 2 seasons and completed 671 total.

So Cook accounted for 11.4% of our pass completions.

    Damien Williams 11.0%.

Not to mention when cook comes in the game, it makes the defense immediately think pass. But that could also hurt them by not paying attention to CJ. So either way you look at it, it has its perks and down falls.
