The SEC is the most competitive conference but that doesnt make it deep enough talent-wise for the other conferences players to disapear. Once you scrape the cream of the crop of the top of the SEC, youve got to look at the rest of the country. Not like the SEC's 50th best guy is going to out performe the ACC's top guy.

A good player is a good player. Regardless of where they come from. I agree and I think I see the point Climer is trying to make. Would have been better if he had done the article from the point of view that "Wow, interesting that we do not take more SEC players." Instead of saying that we need more SEC players.

The 49ers have eight guys from the SEC, two of which went to Missouri before they defected. They have a lot of guys from the Big10(11).

Conversely the Ravens have a bunch of guys from the ACC(12) and 11 from the SEC.

Meanwhile the Titans have 13 from the SEC...

So, per the usual, David Climer is wrong.

Probably zero. Why does that matter?

The SEC is known for it's dominance along the line of scrimmage, too bad most of the highly ranked defensive linemen from the SEC end up being monumental busts. I'd argue against taking SEC defensive linemen because there is a history of them being awful, instead we get, "DEY PLAY IN DAT DER SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC!" That's essentially Climer's argument.

Nothing about how SEC players have fared in the NFL, just that the best college ball is played there, so they must be good NFL players too.

Climer sites the Wright pick over Rueben Randal. Randal was picked 44 selections later with five other WRs being picked in that time!

the KW selection pizzed me off. Left multiple OL on the board with that selection.

And no none of them were SEC, at least the ones I am talking about.
