McNair was in the league 5 years before he hit 60% of his throws.

Improve the running game and OL protection up the middle and put a system in place that suits him better and I think he will be fine.

It does bug me that I have not 100% confidence in any of our QB's since Moon.

I dont understand why people say he looked better in 2011 when his completion percentages was worse than 2012

    Pro Completion %
    2011 51.5%
    2012 56.4%
    Pro Career 55.5%

    College Completion Percentage
    2007 47.3%
    2008 53.8%
    2009 58.4%
    2010 55.4%
    College Career 53.9%

Guys I think we know what we have. Different systems, very similar results. Its not the system, its the player and looking at his playing history its not going to improve to the point where he needs to be. I'll eat crow if Im wrong

First, I do not think we have an adequate sample yet. He did play sparingly in 2011 and did suffer some nerves, but did move the ball ok. In 2012, the system and the injury issues do not allow us to have a good idea yet. His college stats got better from year to year from freshman to junior which indeed showed improvement. Again the talent around him was average at best his senior year. I will say I did NOT want to draft him, but we have him and I think he can develop into a serviceable QB.

Perhaps this is being optimistic, but I think Locker's comp has always been and probably will always be Brett Favre. He's a tough-as-nails country boy with a big arm and a tendency to try to make too much happen and occasionally make a throw that leaves you shaking your head, but he also has the mental makeup to get right back out on the field.

Favre hovered around a 60% completion rate (and dipped below it a few times) during some of his best years with the Packers (source) and I think that might be the best we can hope for from Locker.

I still believe he has a shot to be the kind of quarterback who can win a Super Bowl. He's not going to do it like a cerebral surgeon along the lines of Brady or Manning, but I think he can do it a different way. That's more than you can say for a lot of guys in the league. Andy Dalton is never winning a Super Bowl. Alex Smith is never winning a Super Bowl. Matt Schaub is never winning a Super Bowl. Jake Locker? I think he could.

That said, we'll need to see a lot more from him in 2013. As I said, I'm being optimistic. We don't yet know for sure what or who he is.

The biggest problem is Locker DOESN'T THINK HE HAS AN ISSUE... first step in correcting a problem is acknowledging it

He was answering a question in an interview. Plenty of NFL players are self-confident. He's obviously going to work in improving as a player during the offseason.

Even if he thinks he does have an accuracy issue, why would he admit that publicly essentially in front of the whole league? To make some fans who already don't believe in him feel justified and or reassured? I'm glad I wasn't athletically gifted enough to go pro in any sports cause most fans are annoying as hell. Honestly I don't know how these guys get through their daily lives without going Ron Artest on some fools.
