Folks, we are no longer allowed to say so and so can "potentially" do this or that. Jared Cook had the "potential" to be that big play threat, but proved he is more or less a one dimensional scrub! Let's just say Delanie Walker is going to be a very versitle player for us. I'm sorry but I'm tired of us using "potential" as a basis of our choices on every player we bring in.

Fair enough. You have a very good point.. Think about our history with tight ends. Ben Troupe? All the potential in the world.. BUM. Cook? Same boat.

Smart move. More complete, versatile player, half the money.

And franchise cook? Even at te money, that would be stupid. He was inconsistent and lazy as it was, and holding him hostage was gonna help?

My friend is huge a huge 49ers fan and rarely gives the Titans any sort of props but he thinks we got a steal here as he says the 9ers never utilized him properly.

Although... I think we already had a TE we didnt utilize properly, so my expectations will remain low.

You can see the feet and agility that gave the 49ers the comfort to line him up wide and in the slot. He is very natural in his hips and footwork, the opposite was often said about Jared Cook. Cook was just a big target that could get up the field, but please don't ask him to make a cut or read on the fly, he would trip over his own feet. I really really like this signing, very versatile player who will be a huge help for Locker.

But this guy can knock snot bubbles out of you, just like a TE is suppose to do, you know we like our TE's to be physical, thus the reason Cook only played 50% of the time

Hello all. I had to join just to post about my dissatisfaction regarding losing Delanie Walker to free agency.

First let me say that I hope for the Titans' sake, they do not play Walker at FB. He's too talented to be wasted as a FB.

He did have some problems with drops last season as everyone knows by now, but I think the other areas where he's excelled on the field more than make up for that. The 49ers run offense was great last season, but it wouldn't have been nearly as productive without DW's run-blocking abilities. Little known fact: Vernon Davis is just as good at run-blocking as he is at pass catching; he's a fantastic blocker, but Walker is even better.

Walker plays in just about every ST formation as well, and excels there too. Though, if he's going to be the Titans starting TE, I don't know how quick they'll be to risk him getting injured on ST.

You may or may not know, but he was a WR in college. A big WR. The Niners drafted him in 2006 and immediately turned him into a smaller more athletic TE. I think it's a credit to his work-ethic and overall value that he's become such an incredible blocker, and versatile player considering he came into the league as a WR. Anyway, long story short, I was really hoping the Niners FO would find a way to retain him, but with our current cap situation we just couldn't afford to offer him the money he was going to command from other teams.

His value is tremendous and honestly I'm going to be following Titans games this year just to see him play, he's one of my favorite players!

you might break a record for most high fives on a first post ever.

and also my 49ers friend has basically resonated the same thing you have said as well. Now I gotta get him on my Madden franchise team.
