No one is really talking about it, but of course this team likes to catch everyone off guard by getting someone no one thinks we will grab. AKA Wright last year. I think that position this year might just be middle linebacker. Why?

Well, I don't think I really need to explain why. We have shored up about every position we needed to this offseason and the general idea around here is McCarthy is not going to finish the year. Oddly enough, we haven't really even addressed the position either. This leaves me to believe that we may end up taking Alec Olgetree at 10. I know most mocks are not projecting him that high, but the guy is a monster on the field and a big play machine. Basically everything you would want in the middle. Could really provide a spark that we miss on defense, plus with Ayers, Brown and Olgetree you basically can blitz from any position and all are pretty solid against the run.

I admit, I am a tad bias, as I am a Georgia fan but I think we might just overlook his DUI and take a flyer on this guy then go defensive end in the second and OL and SS in the third. Anyway, just wanted to see what everyone else thought, I think it makes some sense when you look at how the offseason has played out so far.

Ogletree at 10? No way. If that's who you want, then trade back to around 20 and take him.

I don't know much about him and I'd probably be upset if we took him... especially at #10.

alot of mocks had him going top 10 before the combine, and really with the way the talent blurs this year I think he could be worth it at 10. I also think we could trade down some as well and take him but I would want to trade past Pitt.

    because every thread needs one.

Watch him stuff Lacy at about 1:50. Plus these are plays against good teams too, not Eastern West Virginia at California.

anyone I just got off work and am about to crash, this doesn't have to be an Ogletree thread, I just wanted to open up the possibility that we will likely end up drafting someone no one is talking about right now.

I think if any LB is going to be taken at #10, it'll be Arthur Brown. He is this year's Bruce Irvin because he is getting smoke screened like crazy. A lot of analyst and realizing and now have him going in the 20-25 range. I would love to have Brown. Stacks and sheds well, good instincts, ran a 4.59 official at his pro day. Guy is a stud.

It's a fact our front office wants a good core of LB's (they're probably the most important group in football after the O-Line)

so I can absolutely see us taking a MLB early, but not at 10.

Ogletree is a monster and my favorite LB, but I belive he'll be a 4-3 OLB. He's not worth of the #10 pick, as no 43 LB is... if we traded WAY back to like 18-24 range, sure.

As Scarecrow said, the talent does seem a bit muddled this year. So I supposed anything could happen. But IDK, I wouldn't be too happy with the pick. At least not at 10. We have much more pressing issues IMO. We still need a beast in the middle of the DL. And we can't/shouldn't pretend that Levitre magically fixes our OL. I'd rather take a big boy (on either side of the ball) and roll the dice that McCarthy stays healthy, or at least relatively healthy.
