There will obviously be more trades than just the Bucs/Jets, but I think that one is destined to happen before the draft.

Was bored last night so I decided to do a couple mocks (one with no trades, one with trades). I went against conventional wisdom with some of the picks so I'm expecting disagreement.

    2013 Mock Draft (no trades)
    1. Chiefs- Luke Joeckel (OT/Texas A&M)
    2. Jaguars- Geno Smith (QB/West Virginia)
    3. Raiders- Star Lotulelei (DT/Utah)
    4. Eagles- Eric Fisher (OT/Central Michigan)
    5. Lions- Ziggy Ansah (DE/BYU)
    6. Browns- Dee Milliner (CB/Alabama)
    7. Cardinals- Lane Johnson (OT/Oklahoma)
    8. Bills- Chance Warmack (OG/Alabama)
    9. Jets- Dion Jordan (DE/Oregon)
    10. Titans- Shariff Floyd (DT/Florida)
    11. Chargers- Jonathan Cooper (OG/North Carolina)
    12. Dolphins- Xavier Rhodes (CB/Florida State)
    13. Buccaneers- Tavon Austin (WR/West Virginia)
    14. Panthers- Sheldon Richardson (DT/Missouri)
    15. Saints- Jarvis Jones (LB/Georgia)
    16. Rams- Cordarrelle Patterson (WR/Tennessee)
    17. Steelers- Barkevious Mingo (LB/LSU)
    18. Cowboys- Kenny Vaccaro (S/Texas)
    19. Giants- Bjoern Werner (DE/Florida State)
    20. Bears- DJ Fluker (OT/Alabama)
    21. Bengals- Deandre Hopkins (WR/Clemson)
    22. Rams- Matt Elam (S/Florida)
    23. Vikings- Desmond Trufant (CB/Washington)
    24. Colts- Sylvester Williams (DT/North Carolina)
    25. Vikings- Manti Te'o (LB/Notre Dame)
    26. Packers- Eddie Lacy (RB/Alabama)
    27. Texans- Justin Hunter (WR/Tennessee)
    28. Broncos- Alec Ogletree (LB/Georgia)
    29. Patriots- Robert Woods (WR/USC)
    30. Falcons- Tyler Eifert (TE/Notre Dame)
    31. 49ers- Margus Hunt (DE/Southern Methodist)
    32. Ravens- Keenan Allen (WR/California)

I know Geno going 2nd to the Jags is crazy talk in most people's books. But I could see it happening for a number of reasons. First, the Jags have both a new HC and a new GM. So neither were involved in the drafting of Blaine Gabbert. Second, even though most mocks have the QBs falling in recent weeks, I really believe that the overall value of the QB position will win out in the end. We've seen teams reach for QBs in the last couple years. I don't see this year being much different. Third, and perhaps most importantly, Blaine Gabbert flat out sucks.

The other eyebrow-raising pick is probably Floyd falling all the way to 10. Most mocks have him going in the first couple of picks. Maybe they're right. This is just how it went down in my mock.

    2013 Mock Draft (w/trades)
    - Bills trade the 8th overall pick & ??? for the Jaguars 2nd overall pick
    - Chargers trade the 11th overall pick & ??? for the Browns 6th overall pick
    - Buccaneers trade the 13th overall pick & ??? for the Jet's Darrelle Revis

    1. Chiefs- Luke Joeckel (OT/Texas A&M)
    2. Bills- Geno Smith (QB/West Virginia) [from Jaguars]
    3. Raiders- Star Lotulelei (DT/Utah)
    4. Eagles- Eric Fisher (OT/Central Michigan)
    5. Lions- Ziggy Ansah (DE/BYU)
    6. Chargers- Lane Johnson (OT/Oklahoma) [from Browns]
    7. Cardinals- Dion Jordan (DE/Oregon)
    8. Jaguars- Dee Milliner (CB/Alabama) [from Bills]
    9. Jets- Barkevious Mingo (LB/LSU)
    10. Titans- Chance Warmack (OG/Alabama)
    11. Browns- Cordarrelle Patterson (WR/Tennessee) [from Chargers]
    12. Dolphins- Xavier Rhodes (CB/Florida State)
    13. Jets- Tavon Austin (WR/West Virginia) [from Buccaneers]
    14. Panthers- Shariff Floyd (DT/Missouri)
    15. Saints- Jarvis Jones (LB/Georgia)
    16. Rams- Kenny Vaccaro (S/Texas)
    17. Steelers- Desmond Trufant (CB/Washington)
    18. Cowboys- Jonathan Cooper (OG/North Carolina)
    19. Giants- Bjoern Werner (DE/Florida State)
    20. Bears- Sheldon Richardson (DT/Missouri)
    21. Bengals- Deandre Hopkins (WR/Clemson)
    22. Rams- Robert Woods (WR/USC)
    23. Vikings- Sylvester Williams (DT/North Carolina)
    24. Colts- Alec Ogletree (LB/Georgia)
    25. Vikings- Manti Te'o (LB/Notre Dame)
    26. Packers- DJ Fluker (OT/Alabama)
    27. Texans- Justin Hunter (WR/Tennessee)
    28. Broncos- Tyler Eifert (TE/Notre Dame)
    29. Patriots- Jamar Taylor (CB/Boise State)
    30. Falcons- Datone Jones (DE/UCLA)
    31. 49ers- Margus Hunt (DE/Southern Methodist)
    32. Ravens- Keenan Allen (WR/California)

I've read the Bills really covet Geno Smith. And let's be real, Kevin Kolb is not the answer. We know it. They know it. So even though I have the Jags taking him in my first mock, I could certainly see a scenario where they trade out of the spot if the price is right. I wouldn't expect an RG3 type offer. But I still think the Bills could make an offer that is too good for the Jags to pass up.

I could see the Chargers moving up to ensure they get one of the top 3 OTs. And they know they'll have to get ahead of the Cardinals in order to do so. The Browns seem like a good trade partner as they have many holes to fill. They could move back a few spots and still get an impact player, while picking up and extra pick or two in the process. Seems like a win-win.

I also assume that the Jets and Buccs will finally pull the trigger on the Darrelle Revis trade. Jets use the pick to grab one of the top 2 WRs (Austin in this scenario) in an attempt to add a much needed offensive playmaker. I thought about going QB with this pick. But with this being a make or break year for Rex Ryan & company, I think they'll opt to ride or die with Sanchez.

Again, Floyd falls. Even further this time. I really have no justification for it other than it's just the way it went down in my mock. I have seen one or two mocks with him falling this far so maybe I'm not totally off base.

I might do one more of these on draft day. Biggest change was obviously Nassib to Bills at #8 and no Geno in the 1st round. I'm kind of copying McShay here, but I had originally said that Nassib to the Bills in the 2nd round would make the most sense due to the Syracuse connection.
