The Offense couldn't stay on the field, and the Defense could not get off the field. Both OC and DC sucked, and the highest players on both sides of the ball (CJ and Griff) played like dancing with the stars contestants. I would say that it was a toss up.

No defense will play well if they're on the field for 85% of the game.

Let me preface this post with a couple of definitions:

Expected Points (EP) - This is the amount of points a team can expect to get at any time during a drive. It takes into consideration down, distance, and field position. If a team is has 1st and goal at the 1 yard line, EP=6. If a team has 3rd and 20 at on their own one 1 yard line, EP=-2. Obviously the EP changes after every play.

Expected Points Added (EPA) - This is the difference in EP at the beginning and end of the play. If you are at 1st and goal at the 1, and take a sack your EP of 6 would go down thus netting you a negative EPA ... conversely if you are at 3rd and 20 on your own 1 yard line and throw a 99 yd TD pass, your EP goes from -2 to 6, thus resulting in an EPA of +8. (keep in mind that a negative EPA doesn't necessarily mean negative yards, basically its just that you have a lesser probability of scoring than you did before the play happened)

So basically the EPA shows if your team put themselves in a better or worse position at the end of the play than they were in before it happened.

Success Rate (SR) - the percentage of plays that are 'successful', successful meaning a positive EPA. In other words, its basically the percent of plays that your team puts itself in a better position that it was the play before.

So if we look at the Titans offense, their SR was 40.8% (for reference, NE ranked 1st with 52% SR and Az ranked last with 36% SR) ... meaning that we ended only 40% of our plays in a better position to score than when we started on offense.

Our Defensive SR was 52% (DEN was 1st with 58% and Jax was last with 50%). So more often than not (although just barely) our D put us in a better position than we were in the play before. Which is more than the Offense can say.

So I would say that both need to improve (obviously), but the offense was more to blame than the D.

    Bugger, voted defense accidentally.

Offense was clearly the issue. They were not at all effective.

The defense sucked! It is the play of the defense that gets you into the playoffs and the play of the offense determines how far in the playoffs you will advance. It seems like all the team highlights we see on film was our defense getting burned time after time.

We lost time of possession 14 out of 16 games, the defense never stood a chance.

There is no way you can look at the time of possesion and put the blame on te defense. When the defense is winded the entire game, they have no chance.

    Offenses fault.
