I'm not saying it will happen BUT most people remember before the draft last year i correctly predicted we would pick a WR.Most thought i was nuts and it wouldn't happen but thats exactly what did happen and i knew it would because our depth and the state of our receivers wasn't that good not to mention Britt coming off a major injury.

Now this draft i will not say i predict a receiver because i really have no idea at this point.I do hope we choose Warmack or Cooper to beef up the line.

However if we do draft a receiver who would you pick Austin or Patterson?

Myself i would pick Austin and i would be cool with it if we did pick him because i think he will be pretty damn good.He played four years at West Virginia and in his last two seasons he had 100 catches in his junior and senior season. Also Austin is a solid punt/kickoff returner who could give both Reynaud and Mariani some competition.

As far as Patterson goes i really do hope we don't pick him because he only played like one season at Tennessee and he is still unpolished in a lot of areas including running correct routes as well as a few other areas of concern. There is really only a season worth of games and in my opinion thats not enough experience and there are too many questions.

Easily Patterson, much more upside. Austin will be a good player but he'll never be a number 1, hell he might never see #2 snaps.

Patterson easily. Outside receivers are much more valuable that slot receivers.

Don't want either one at 10. And we already drafted a speedy slot WR last year. I will guarantee that we don't take Austin

They've been looking for a slot guy. Austin would fit that plan perfectly. The kid is one of the 10 best players in the draft this year.

I like Patterson as well, and if we didn't have Britt, I'd probably lean towards Patterson, just because he has the talent of Austin, but is 6'3. Evan Silva extensivly studied his 2012 tape, and said this kid is nothing, if not a playmaker. Contrary to the popular belief, he saw a guy that ran a complete, precise route tree and had no problem creating seperation and making SEC defenders look silly. And he did liken him to a Dez Bryant and Julio Jones type. The only flaw he saw, and that I noticed while watching him during the fall, was that he did tend to catch the ball with his body from time to time. The kid is freakishly talented, if he gets on the right team, under the right coaching, he will be a stud.

I know the thought of a WR in the first makes most cringe, and I'm not saying we should or shouldn't, but I do know that we could do worse than Austin or Patterson. Nate will not be on this team in 2013, and your guess is as good as mine on what the future holds for Kenny. Ruston went after Welker and Amendola, so I don't think he's taking this whole receiver thing lightly.

Not a slot WR. I don't get how people keep saying this. Is it because he is a shorter receiver?

If we were held at gunpoint and forced to take a WR, I would easily take Austin. He's going to be good. Patterson is much more likely to bust.

Austin is NFL ready. Patterson is not.

Explain why Patterson is not NFL ready. He was definitely SEC ready. He made SEC defenders look stupid. He was the #1 WR recruit in the country coming out of JuCo. People questioned if he could get it done in the SEC, and he excelled. He's done everything but disappoint. What makes you think that he will suddenly flop in the NFL? Now, I'm not saying that he won't be a bust, but I don't see it as much of a certainty as you. What is it that you have seen, or not seen, that makes you think he's not ready?

He does not run his routes. That's pretty much it.

SEC is not the NFL. Watch what happens when he tries to improvise and run his own routes in the NFL. You can make SEC defenders look silly all day. That's cool, but they're not NFL defenders. It's easier for Bray to find an open Patterson running wild against college players than it will be for even an elite QB to find Patterson running his own route.

QBs will be pissed off when he pulls that crap.

He will need to learn how to run tons of routes and remember them when the plays are called. Is he smart enough to do this? Can he do this? I don't know. He's never had to. We'll see.

Huge risk. Tons of potential, but also likely to bust.
