Brent Musburger said something very accurate during the Alabama ND Championship game when he said there was no way Nick Saben would go back to the nfl because there he gets just 1 first rd pick at Alabama he is getting several.

Imagine an NFL team just having Alabama's draft?

    9 draft picks

3 in the first rd 9,10,11

    1 2nd

    2 4th

    2 5th

    1 7th

That is just one sec team!

Then you look at one of the big stalwart programs in the big ten, Nebraska, who didn't have a player drafted until the 190th pick. Burkett.

That can't be good for recruiting.

I'm counting 60 sec players taken in the draft. 25% of the draft.

Alabama set a team record with 9 draft picks but LSU also had 9 and Florida and Georgia had 8 each. South Carolina had 7.

    63 SEC players.

The question is though... How many of the 63 will actually be impact players?

A lot of them were drafted just because they were from the SEC.

25% of the draft picks came from SEC schools. Here's the breakdown:
    SEC: 63
    Non-FBS teams: 36
    ACC: 30
    Pac-12: 28
    Big 12: 22
    Big East: 21
    Big Ten: 20
    Conference USA: 8
    Independents: 7
    MAC: 7
    MWC: 7
    Sun Belt: 4

If you think 25% is good, at the top of the draft, where the best players are, the SEC did even better. They had 33% of the players drafted in the first three rounds.
    SEC – 32
    ACC – 12
    Pac-12 – 11
    Big 12 – 8
    Big East – 8
    Big Ten – 7

SEC = 25% of the draft

I think it's safe to say even if only half of those will be "impact" players it still beats the sh** out of every other conference.

In the first round, the SEC had 12 draft picks, or 36%. Next best was the ACC with 7.
    SEC - 12
    ACC - 7
    Pac-12 - 5
    Big 12 - 3
    Ind - 2
    Big 10 - 1
    MAC - 1
    C-USA - 1

Four of the top ten players were from the SEC - Joeckel, Mingo, Milliner and Warmack. Five of the top 11, six of the top 13, eight of the top 18, etc., were from the SEC.

The SEC had 11 players drafted before the Big Ten had one. :brow:
