It’s easy to see why the Titans favor the 6-foot-2, 240-pound Jackie Battle in short-yardage situations over smaller Chris Johnson, but maybe it’s time to give Johnson more short-yardage tries.

Battle was unable to pick up 1-yard gains on three occasions against the Chiefs — once on a third-and-1 in the first quarter, and twice during a first-and-goal sequence from the 1 in the second quarter.

Meanwhile, Johnson picked up two yards — and a first down — on a second-and-1 in the third quarter.

Asked if he felt he should be on the field during the goal-line situation, Johnson said: “Of course I feel like I should be out there, but (offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains) makes the calls, so there’s nothing I can do about it.”

Johnson does not have a rushing touchdown in five games.

Lets give it to CJ next time we're in this situation. We have athletic O-linemen who could pull and seal the edge, allowing CJ to get outside and turn the corner.

Been saying this since the first week. And it has caused us several TD opportunities so far!

We need to mix it up. It can't be the same personnel, the same formation and the same play every time we get in short yardage situations.

It all goes back to predictable, stale playcalling. Battle isn't anything special. But he's probably not going to have much success when EVERY time he's in the game everyone in the damn stadium knows what's coming.

    Loggains is pathetic.

do you people watch the games or just like to run your mouth? There is a huge difference between 3rd and 1 in the middle of the field vs. the 1 yard rd line?

Been saying it since week two; don't run right. Warmack and Stewart are getting whipped. We seem hellbent on showing the world that the right side is our power side when we need a yard. I got news for you, it isn't.

So I'm wondering if the running game continues to falter, do we keep trying to pound the ball and waste half our possessions per game, or do we go pass heavy to try and set-up the run?

The coaching staff keeps saying that they aren't afraid to change the offensive strategy if it's not working. If the run game doesn't improve very soon we'll get to see if that's true.
