True. They did beat us though. I wouldn't be chalking them up as easy wins.

I wasn't sure we'd beat the Raiders at home, but it didn't stop me from cheering and being pumped with the win. We have 6th and a bunch of tie breakers, might as well enjoy it through the rest of the season. That said, it'll be a hard path. Zona isn't the easy W I expected at the beginning of the year, and I would be extremely impressed if we beat Denver. Colts in Indy, damn that'll be tough. Jags we should win, not sure what to make of week 17 against the Cows though.

It'll be tough, but how long has it been since we've controlled our own destiny? Sadly we're 5-6, but somehow in this awful conference, we're doing just that. Go Titans!

Titans will draft a QB, no question. Locker is under contract for 2014 at $2M, but will be a FA at the end of 2014. Titans are NOT going to exercise the 2015 option (currently $13M) on someone they aren't sure they can count on. So, we'll draft some competition for Jake. Jake will enter FA after 2014. If he's proven himself, I suppose the Titans will have a chance to resign him. If not, we'll have a new QB under center in 2015.

If Carr/Murray/McCarron/Boyd/Mettenberger/Fales or guys like that fall into the 2nd (or 3rd and we can trade up), Titans would be dumb not to draft one of them. We've got a starting QB who only plays half his games.

Whether it's Locker or someone else, we aren't going to be serious contenders until we get a QB that can actually stay on the field.

I did not say we should not get a new starter. Just said we will not.

All fair points. But my thing is we're really all just speculating. We fans know NOTHING about Tommy Smith's personality or way of conducting business. What we do know is that his father-in-law expected this team to make the playoffs in order for Munch to be guaranteed a return in 2014. And right now, despite currently holding the 6th playoff spot, chances of that happening are not very good. So it shouldn't be seen as out of the realm of possibility that Smith will follow through on Bud's expectations.

I tend to agree with you.

Still, i'd like them to at least have the opportunity to pass over someone like Mettenberger/Carr, etc.

No doubt... for all I know.. they could fire everyone and give the draft for Ben or trade up for a new QB and start over.

However, Bud is dead. What he said, and thinks, means absolutely nothing anymore. I believe Tommy will run this how he wants to, not based on a an old dying mans words. I just hope he knows better than we (and Bud) does.

At this point it's kind of hard to say if I was happy or disappointed. Of course I was naturally happy to see us win, but then you realize that the more success Munchak has - the higher the chances of him being our HC next season.

Exactly. Tommy could be a carbon copy of Bud or he could be completely different. Only time will tell. I just don't think we can definitively say anything him or Munch's future at this point. Maybe Tommy hated the Munchak hire from the get-go and can't wait to get rid of him. Maybe he loved it and sees multiple Super Bowls in our future. IDK.

Just looking at the facts though, if it were my call I'd definitely fire Munch. We simply aren't moving forward at a rapid enough rate. Maybe the product on the field has gotten slightly better but it's not really showing up in the W/L column. And at the end of the day that's all that matters. But hey, there's 5 games left. If we finish 5-11 or 6-10 I doubt there will be many Munch-supporters left. If we finish 9-7 and sneak into the playoffs maybe we're all singing Munch's praises.
