CJ sparks momentum, gets pulled

OK, so we say CJ is a cancer and a liability. And the reason Greene, Battle, etc. have produced exactly the same amount of absolutely nothing in the run game given the opportunities is...?? At least CJ has contributed in the pass game, unlike the other RBs.

 

I'm not saying I have enjoyed seeing Greene back there, but his YPC are a different type of YPC than CJ's. Clearly, the line is the first problem, but CJ isn't doing himself any favors.

 

CJ is also much better in pass protection than the other backs we have. That's sad considering how much stronger Greene and Battle are. Literally the only aspect of Greene or Battle's game that is superior to CJ is putting their head down and ramming/pushing forward. Cj is far superior to both of them in every other way imaginable.

Hate on CJ all you want, he lives and dies by his offensive line which does a TERRIBLE job opening holes. I have never seen a hole open for CJ that didn't end in less than a 5 yard gain. Go look at tape from 2008/2009 and look at tape from this year. Don't focus on CJ, focus on the oline.

What makes CJ good is he can't be over-pursued or you get burned. If there's remotely any hole because of his speed he's a guaranteed 5 yard gain because he has super-human acceleration.

CJ will get released this off season, and will go to a team with a competent coaching staff and put up another 2k.

 

You'd be surprised at how many people here are on the TT hype train, like he's the next Gronk.

CJ really wont win now with some fans, and the problem is his price tag. If he made 1/2 of what he made, he would get less hate.

All last season, everyone wanted him to lower his head and fight for more yards. This year, he is doing that more and doing a better job of it. If its YPC you want, he had 4.5 YPC last season. If its him lowering his head and fighting to get more, you are getting that this year. If you are wanting him to be consistent and get 3-4 yards every carry, then realize its the line because no other back has done better (other than a situational game here or there) than CJ has.

Ideal situation... he takes a paycut, our line learns to block better, and everyone is happy.

 

cj hasnt had a competant QB in a couple years either. name a team out there that fears our passing game enough not to load the box and dare us to pass? send 9 after cj and QB and you stop us as of late. best drive yesterday was fitz running and cj's runs on same drive. same when locker was healthy. it was lockers legs more than arm. im not giving up on our team or running back till we have a decent QB. not being able to throw the long ball no deep threat hurts run game and o-line more than anything. plug a top 5 QB into our offense and all but gurantee cj is top three in the league. i hope they restructure maybe cut his 8mil next year to 6mil. every team we play knows apply pressure all day and they win. have we ever had a QB that is good enough to audible at the line and change plays? my opinion our team is pretty loaded. just need a QB.

 

No. It's because our offensive line is garbage. But every other good RB in the NFL win those situations from time to time. CJ gets tackled in the open field by DBs. He sucks just as bad as the line.
