I actually agree with you thinking here. I am sick of settling for 3 points and constantly putting up 3 and outs every damn offensive drive. Jake was playing at a very high level in that Jets game and looked like the exact QB we need. That style of play is exactly the type of team that we should be. Throw on first down, throw on second down and repeat. Then we the defense is getting tired of chasing us around, hit them in the mouth with a run here and there.

If we throw the ball on first and second down to start every offensive drive we are much more likely to get first downs and not have to deal with near as many 3rd and longs.

You are making several good points. Most importantly IMO is that the league has tipped the rules in favor of QB's/WR's to make the high scoring games enjoyable to watch. The thought process is that high scoring games are more entertaining. And I have to agree- at least when you have a talented passing offense matched against a ball control offense. Why in the hell this franchise wouldn't adapt with the rule changes is beyond me. It makes the success of your team even MORE dependant on the QB.

Another area worthy of scrutiny is scouting and personnel selection. The Titans have a chronic problem of busted first and second round draft choices. Granted RW has two good drafts under his belt, the jury is certainly still out on Warnack.

The busts from previous years who should be making huge contributions right now are what's killing the franchise - Britt, Ayers, Locker, Brown, Morgan, Marks, Cook, Jason Jones (2nd Rd '08). None of there are playmakers making a difference game in and game out.

It will take at least five years of solid drafts to build a sustainable winning franchise. The Titans also have to have a coaching staff capable of developing the talent selected. The current CBA severely limits the amount of time available to "coach up" raw talent. Established organizations like the Pats and Packers have such well established systems they are able to quickly get guys up to speed. The Titans are start over every year as talent leaves the franchise through FA.

Romo is better than what we have at QB. People are trying to blame him for the cowboys problems this year which is idiotic but perceptions can be good for us.

Which statistic suggests that Romo is not qualified to be our QB his 31 Tds this year or his 10 ints? The cowboys have the worst defense in the nfl that is not his fault. He was blamed for the loss against the Broncos because he threw an int AFTER putting 48 points on the board.

Look at where the cowboys rank every year in scoring offense.

The fact that Romo is better than what we have, is a ******* argument RT.

This is the #1 thing holding this franchise back, IMO.

Those early picks should not only be your starters, those which are mid-first round and earlier need to be the kind of talents the entire team is build around and other teams scheme to stop.

It's too early to make a call on any Webster picks, IMO. Wright looks very promising but so did Britt after his second season. Warmack seems to be improving but is far from the kind of player the Titans thought they were drafting.

Go back three seasons and you get in the first three rounds:

    '11
Locker, Ayers and Casey - Locker can't stay on the field. Ayers seems to be regressing. Casey is a stud who looks like he could be a top DT if he can hold up better against the run.

    '10
Morgan, D. Williams and Curran - Morgan never became the impact player the DL needs. DW is a backup and Curran was a total bust. Thank goodness Verner was taken in the fourth.

    '09
Britt, Marks and Cook - Bust, disappointment and disappointment.

    '08
CJ, J. Jones and Stevens - CJ is as close as this team has gotten to a top-tier player though has steadily declined. JJ is gone and Stevens has never lived up to his draft position.

    '07
Griffin, Henry and P. Williams - Griffin has been a solid pick despite some ups and downs while Henry and PW were busts.

The way I see this, from '07 to '11, the Titans have drafted three quality players out of 15 possible. Two have made the pro bowl. Too many complete busts on this list.

I don't know how many changes have been made to the scouting department over the recent years but better early picks has to happen to success in the NFL.

I can't say. You'll just have to trust me on this one. I know of at least one scout who thinks really high of manzeil but doesn't know what grade to give him yet. Call it a hunch but my bet is if he is available we will look long and hard at him
