In looking back at his rookie season, wide receiver Justin Hunter said he expected to make a smoother transition from college to the NFL.

A second-round draft pick out of the University of Tennessee, Hunter had his share of ups and downs this year. He was inactive for the Titans’ first game and posted just two catches – both touchdowns – in his first six contests before the bye week.

“I underestimated (the rookie season) a little bit going into it,” Hunter said. “I thought it would be a lot easier, but it was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I learned a lot from the veterans and I’ll just ake what I learned into next year.”

What, specifically, did Hunter find most difficult about his rookie campaign?

“Just the practice aspect,” Hunter said. “I wasn’t expecting the rookies to do everything – doing all the scout team stuff and the scout-team special teams. It was a lot on me, but I learned.”

Hunter hit his stride in late November and early December, producing two 100-yard games in a three-week stretch. But Hunter was suspended for the team’s 14th game due to a rules violation, and he didn’t catch a pass in either of the Titans’ final two contests.

“I don’t think (the suspension stalled momentum),” Hunter sasid. “Ryan (Fitzpatrick) was just looking at different match-ups. Nate (Washington) had the good match-up in the Jacksonville game, so that’s where a lot of passes were going. I hurt my shoulder yesterday, so that took me out of a lot.”

Hunter has physical and mental goals heading into the offseason, following a season in which he caught 18 passes for 354 yards (19.7-yard average) and four touchdowns.

Physically, he wants to bulk up from his current 194 pounds, looking to hit at least 205 before next season. He wants to improve his strength and conditioning as well.

Mentally, he wants to better his technique.

“Just route-work, route-running,” Hunter said. “I want to look at film and study all that.”

This just further proves that rookies aren't the saviors fans hope for them to be. All the Chance Warmack critics need to realize this.

Erroneous. Taking a guard in the top ten was a bad pick, no matter how much he does or doesn't suck.

We had two hall of fame guards on this line at the same time(Matthews and Munchak) and didn't win **** with them. Stupid pick.

Chance played ok, not great but at least as good as any other OL we had this year. He and Schwanke will only get better and better.

Schwanke was a great pick. Im very happy with him. Just thought I would say something positive about our team.

chance is the least of our problems....

some of us worry to much about the stuff that is adequate to good and not enough of what is subpar and horrible.

I see Hunter getting better and better over time. Hunter, Wright, Washington and Walker will make a good receiving group next yr.
