To your point. I don't think Kubiak should have been fired either. He lost his pro bowl running back, then his up and coming back and his QB decided to start throwing like a slow kid in a chuck-e-cheese ball pit. He got canned to sate the fan base. That being said O'brien might turn out to be better so whatever.

I'm telling you that without that QB change this team doesn't play anywhere near as well Reid or no Reid. Alex Smith isn't some scrub and that thought is outdated. He got it done in San Fran and he's getting it done in KC. His mobility and intelligence helped them ice that win against us. Game manager isn't an ugly term any more because if you can just manage the game and make a few plays here an there a team as talented as KC doesn't need much more. The thing is the talent has to be there. We're not as talented as KC no matter how much people in Tennessee think we are.

Exactly. I think those first 4 games or whatever where he didn't have a turnover REALLY got a lot of people thinking all sunshine and rainbows in regards to Jake Locker. But aside from the Jets game (before he got hurt of course) he really wasn't overly impressive. And like I said in a previous post, he's always been extremely streaky to begin with. Why some people became so convinced that he was now somehow the savior over a handful of decent games is beyond me.

Not to that extreme, but not far off either.

2008 Titans were by far the most talented team in the playoffs that year ... 1 game with some bad luck and we were one and done.

Last year Joe Flacco and the Ravens stumbled into the playoffs ... Some incredibly lucky plays and they beat SB favorites in Denver, and go on to win it all.

Giants won SB XLVI ... they made the playoffs with a 9-7 (barely above average) record
They also won XLII by beating the 19-0 Pats, while posting a 10-6 record themselves.

How many years has Peyton taken the #1 regular season team (and SB favorite) to the playoffs only to lose in the 1st game?

In fact, in the past 37 years, winning the Super Bowl or losing your first playoff game has been a 50/50 proposition for a No. 1 seed.

09 Saints and 03 Pats are the only #1 teams to win the SB in this century.

So yeah, build a team that can make the playoffs on a regular basis, and then all you need is a little good luck to make it to the big dance.
