Fisher is doing exactly what he did here. Having .500 seasons.

He won't amount to anything with the Rams.

The decision to fire Fisher was the right one at the time, but it was a decision made to late. Rustin has been drafting good players so lets hope he can hire a good coach.

We were a solid QB away from the playoffs this season as well.

Fisher seems to hold a seething, utter contempt for QBs....unless they've been to a SB and lost.

Both coaches are mediocre at best. Fisher's one shot at a SB ring was what made him. Also, getting on the ruling committees of the league helps keep him in the spotlight. Munchak never had a prayer because he valued friendship over quality coaching. not a good thing.

The mistake wasn't firing Fisher. It was hiring Munch. If those are my only two choices I would have rather kept Fisher. We should have hired outside the organization though.

    Here's my more serious response...

Not really all that impressive IMO considering Munchak was such a bad HC.

And yet his teams are still posting mediocre records. Seems like same old Fisher to me.

Just because Bud completely and utterly botched the hiring of his successor, doesn't mean that moving on from Fisher wasn't the right move. His teams were ridiculously fractured, wildly inconsistent, and worst of all, were quitting on him. 16.5 seasons... it was time to move on.

If Bud had conducted a serious and thorough search for the next HC of this team then these past three years very well could have been completely different. Regardless of how you feel about Munch and the hand he was dealt, there's no doubt he was unqualified for the position. And judging by the other "candidates" who were interviewed it very much looks like the plan all along was an in-house handoff.

Bud took a major gamble by hiring an unqualified in-house assistant when a completely clean break from the Fisher era and culture change was clearly needed. And not surprisingly that gamble turned out just as most of us thought it would.

You are absolutely right. But whether fortunate or not, a coach is tied to his team's QB.

Bud Adams made a horrible, arrogant mistake , and put fisher in a horrible position.
If we had taken leinart at fisher's request, and it flopped, that would be all on him. But he didn't even get that opportunity.

But overall, fisher did not make the most of what he was given any year past 2003. It was unquestionably time for a change.

Very little difference between fisher and munchak in W-L record if they were both handed locker as starter, IMO.
