Guess this thread just got new life with Manziel declaring for the draft. It's funny to read people's opinions from a year ago

Who changed their opinion? I re-read some posts from May 2013 and even then I didn't see anyone really campaigning for him besides TheSuerThing.

Anyone who thinks Manziel can't be effective in the NFL has clearly never heard of Fran Tarkenton

The problem with Manziel is he's a boom or bust player. in the right offense with the right coordinator and players, I think he could be wildly successful (UNLESS he gets hurt...which could be a BIG problem!). Going to the wrong team with the wrong offense and the wrong coordinator and he will struggle!

When the combine comes you will see his height become almost the most important thing in the draft. sub-6' and you will see people saying he could drop to the 2nd round. over 6' and many will call him a top 5 pick.

The FACT is, he's short and small. It's great to be thin, quick and elusive, but we've seen many a running QB who is undersized (under 225lbs) get hurt.

So the problem the titans have inc considering Manziel is we think we have a franchise QB except for the fact he keeps getting hurt. if we took a smaller guy who will run more and really should be in more of a zone/read scheme, he could be a human highlight reel but also be constantly hurt too (see Michael vick). THAT is the big issue which I think would keep the titans from drafting him short of him falling out of round 1.

Hell, he barley beat any ranked teams this year. And last year either. I think 3 wins and one of those was freaking MS who was ranked by fluke IMO. Besides AL they didn't play anyone last year.

He is just cashing in while he can IMO, and you can save this thread and mark my words, he won't do **** in the NFL.

Fran Tarkenton would be dead in today's NFL. NFL linebackers today run faster than corners in Tarkenton's days did. They are also heavier, stronger, and more athletic. This is not debatable to me. Fran Tarkenton isn't going to run circles around Julius Peppers, he's gonna try to get cute and get smacked down Suh style.

Thank you. I tried watching Manziel highlights (not even tape) and lost count of how many times this kid threw ducks up for grabs into double and even triple coverage only to be bailed out by Evans. He did this consistently, that just won't cut it in the league. I agree he's a dynamic college QB but I doubt the game translates. Comparing him to Cam is also bad. Cam was pretty unanimously considered the best player in the country his concerns were purely character concerns and most of them were based on heresay and rumors. Not only does Manziel have serious questions about his game but he also has confirmed character issues. He's a much riskier pick than Cam. He'll still go in the first though, prob 10 15.

I DO NOT like Jake Locker.. but if we took Manziel in the first round, I would become a bigger Locker fan than his own mother.

I hope to God that Webster has more sense than that. I think he'll be gunshy after seeing Locker's injury issues and Vince Young in general.
